Did you know that your breast milk comes in three different stages?
• Stage 1: Colostrum. Colostrum milk comes at the very end of pregnancy and is present for a few days after birth. This is the thick, yellow, and sticky breast milk known as “liquid gold” because it contains protein, white blood cells, and antibodies that help against infection.
• Transitional Milk. Transitional milk is a combo of the transitional and your mature milk. It’s literally what it’s called - transitional.
•
Mature milk. Your mature milk comes in around 2 weeks and has a higher percentage of fats and carbohydrates than colostrum milk. Your mature milk also contains nearly 90% water to make sure your baby is getting their daily fluid intake.
