🏠U.S. Steel to Build New DRI Plant in Osceola
Via Talk Business & Politics: U.S. Steel says a major new investment is headed to Northeast Arkansas. The company plans to build a direct reduced iron plant at the Big River Steel Works campus in Osceola — part of the $11 billion commitment Nippon Steel agreed to when acquiring U.S. Steel.
Details on cost and jobs will be released later, TB&P reports.
đźš” A months-long drug investigation across Independence, Stone, Fulton, Cleburne, and Izard counties has led to dozens of arrests, according to the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force.
Prosecutors say the cases involve m**h trafficking, co***ne delivery, drug-premises operations, and large-quantity seizures — including more than 100 grams of m**h in one case.

Kaniah Jennings, 18, of Portageville, was reported missing on Monday, Nov. 3.
A male arrested in Arkansas the day after her disappearance is now considered a person of interest in the case, according to KFVS12. Blake Patrick, of East Prairie, is currently charged with tampering with a stolen vehicle and felony stealing.
There are also new charges against a second male accused of deleting text messages related to the case.

Forrest City police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot in the head early Thursday morning, according to WREG.
Officers were called just after 3 a.m. to the 1000 block of S. Rosser Street, where they found James Hubbard Jr., 50, in his black Chevrolet Malibu with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness told authorities that a man and his girlfriend found Hubbard but left before officers arrived. No suspect information has been released.
🚨 A Paragould defendant was arrested after police say he choked the alleged victim during a domestic disturbance. The victim had injuries consistent with being choked, according to officers.
Mark Powers, 30, was arrested for aggravated assault on a family or household member. Bail had not yet been set as of this report.
🚔A Brookland defendant was arrested after police say he forced his way into a woman’s home, put the alleged victim in a chokehold, and damaged her phone so she couldn’t call for help. Officers noted injuries to the victim’s arm and neck.
Sean C. Foley, 39, was arrested on a Class Y felony for aggravated residential burglary plus several misdemeanors. Bail was set at $75,000 cash or surety by Judge David Boling.
🚨 Jonesboro police say a suspect hit speeds over 100 MPH during a chase — then fled from authorities again weeks later before finally being caught.
Anthony Adams, 25, of Harrisburg, was arrested for felony fleeing and other charges. Judge David Boling set bail at $100,000, noting Adams had just pled guilty to a felony last month and is currently on probation.
