Welcoming Baltimore’s own Tracey Cooper, bringing his signature blend of deep house and jacking rhythms to the Lab as its newest member. A seasoned beat maker with roots that stretch across some of underground house music’s most respected labels—Greenskeepers Music, Greenhouse, Oomph Recordings, Phobic Music, Delve Deeper, Nordic Trax, and Blockhead—Cooper has been steadily carving out his lane with a sound that hits hard in the club and smoulders in the lounge.
Known for his sporadic but impactful releases, Tracey resurfaces every few years with something fresh, and this next chapter is no exception. His new EP is a heady mix of smoked-out textures and percussive drive—pure, unfiltered dance floor pressure.
With his addition to the Lab, Cooper is stepping into a new phase—more focused, more experimental, and more relentless than ever.

“Mischa Mathys has a new album. Some might say, it’s my first album.

Like every other work, there’s some kind of theme or expansive musical concept at the heart of this album. I only fell upon it as I was finishing it up, but there’s some kind of underlying response to the overwhelming rigid structure of machine music. That’s why “mistakes” and human expressions, which can’t be quite quantised, prevail in this stark electronic aesthetic.

Featuring guest appearances from previous collaborator Adam Unbeat and Tleilaxu bandmate rubinthecubin, the LP is a collection of tracks made over the course of a year.

There’s more lyrical content than I’ve ever made before in large thanks to rubinthecubin, but my machines still do most of the talking for me. They can’t be trusted with the subjective spirit of the music however, and always required interference from my part.

There’s always a question of authenticity when I process a voice through a synthesiser or let a sequence run rampant through randomised control voltages, but I don’t wish to answer that here.

It’s perhaps less concrete in its concept as something like the piece I did with Darkroom contemporary, or the Tleilaxu project; perhaps that’s why I couldn’t name it in the end. It follows on from the last EP I did for Ivaylo’s Lab Cleaning Jams and possibly took some cues from the feedback I got there, but it’s just an extended snapshot of the music I’ve been making and listening to recently.

It will certainly change with some different and new equipment, and those early instrumental Hip Hop records I’ve been playing on repeat at home will get a rest after this.

I don’t know if there’s any point to the recorded format anymore but there was a concerted effort on my part to make this a concise album, and I hope, but don’t demand that you enjoy it as much as I did while making it.” - Mischa Mathys

Ulf Denneche - Instinct EP

Ulf Denneche, known for many under his electronic music moniker Boblebad releasing his ‘Instinct’ EP under his own name on Lab Cleaning Jams.

The EP contains two original tracks named ‘Instinct’ and ‘Detour’, including a remix by From Beyond (UK/NO) and an Ivaylo edit of the latter as well, which makes it a brilliant four-tracker, freshly made for bigger rooms and sound systems.

Soothing percussive techno vibes on a subtle melodic trip for the mind, with spacious synths that will bring the listener through an interesting journey at home or on the dance floor. With carefully crafted sounds and tight arrangements, this unforgettable gem will bring your mind and body closer to the feeling of floating around freely in a void of pure sound and colour.

“For our first collaboration release and joining Ivaylo in studio the invitation went to the Basement Records boss and house head Simon Field.
A song-writer, composer, producer and lyricist, Simon’s accolades span the length and breadth of the music industry and yet you’d be hard pressed to find his name anywhere.
Having Simon joining creativity with Ivaylo we are happy to release this well rounded release, serving the need for an dance floor mover such as the leading ‘Move’ or an more early evening/daytime bonanza with the second ‘What’s Going On’ track.”

We are happy to present our latest member in the Lab family, the Colombian deep house maestro Alejandro Ortega aka Casablanca 303. Born and raised in Bogota and now based in Oslo, Alejandro cached our attention with his blended sound of house and deep house, strongly influenced of jazz, acid and disco – another music recipe from the lab!
