Ever wondered where your garbage goes after it leaves your doorstep? 🗑️

In Bengaluru, waste is taken from door-to-door collection vehicles to transfer stations before being sent to landfills. The city is now building a network of permanent, mechanised secondary transfer stations.

But with much of the waste still arriving mixed, one question remains: Will Bengaluru find an efficient way to segregate waste before it reaches the landfill?

“Just let us build roads.”

After years of potholes, broken stretches, dust and repairs that don’t last, Bengaluru commuters say they’ve had enough.

One motorist in north Bengaluru has made an unusual appeal: if civic authorities can’t fix the roads, let citizens crowdfund and repair them themselves.

The plea comes amid growing frustration over the condition of roads across the city.

Sometimes, showing up starts with a very simple thought - someone should do something about this.

For these volunteers, that thought became a Sunday spent cleaning and painting a park and seeing first-hand what a few people can change when they decide to act.

Different reasons brought them there. But they all led to the same place: showing up for Bengaluru.

Bengaluru Questions, TOI Answers — Episode 1

Why are bike taxis officially banned in Bengaluru? 🛵

Bike taxis are fast, affordable and convenient — and have become popular with commuters navigating Bengaluru’s traffic and first- and last-mile connectivity gaps.

But their legal status has been caught in a court battle. A Karnataka High Court single-judge bench ordered a halt to operations in April 2025. In January 2026, a division bench revoked the ban. Now, the Karnataka government has challenged that order in the Supreme Court.

So, where does that leave bike taxis — and why are auto and taxi unions opposing them?

🎙️ Suchith Kidiyoor and Vindhya Pabolu discuss the issue, moderated by Jahnavi TR.

Watch Episode 1 of Bengaluru Questions, TOI Answers to understand the debate behind Bengaluru’s bike-taxi battle.

A Bengaluru woman returned to her PG room to find that some of her personal belongings had been disturbed. What the CCTV footage revealed was far more disturbing.

Police said a fellow resident, 35-year-old Giriraj D, allegedly entered her room in her absence and stole her underwear and sanitary pads. The woman checked the CCTV footage after noticing something was amiss and identified the man.
According to police, Giriraj allegedly attempted to enter her room again the following morning, following which she approached the police. Koramangala police arrested him and booked a case involving stalking, theft, criminal trespass and insulting the modesty of a woman. He was subsequently remanded in judicial custody.

Bengaluru’s parks are part of the city’s everyday rhythm. – Volunteer for Parks creates a way for people across the city to step in, participate and help care for these shared green spaces.

Here’s everything you need to know before showing up.

Living in a city and feeling part of it are not always the same thing.

Sometimes, that connection begins with something simple: taking part, meeting people around you and caring for a space the neighbourhood shares.

That is the thought behind

A park can be a morning routine, a childhood memory, a meeting point, a playground or simply somewhere to slow down.

That is exactly why these spaces are worth caring for.

Volunteering does not have to mean doing the same thing every time.

Plant a sapling. Join a clean-up. Help beautify a park. Take part in a community activity. Learn something that helps the neighbourhood care for its green spaces better.

Find an activity that feels right for you at iambengaluru.co.in. (Link in bio)

Choose an activity on iambengaluru.co.in, register and show up.

The on-ground team will take it from there.

A few hours may change one path, one patch or one corner of a park.

But when more people begin doing the same across Bengaluru, those small changes start adding up.
