Indie rock del noreste de Inglaterra. Para fans de: Teenage Fanclub, Big Star, Alvvays.

Inicialmente concebido como un proyecto en solitario del multiinstrumentista Andrew Smith, originario de Hartlepool, Mt. Misery se convirtió “oficialmente” en banda en 2019, ganándose rápidamente el cariño de la escena indie pop del noreste.

Su aclamado álbum debut Once Home, No Longer fue lanzado en 2021 a través del discretamente combativo sello Prefect Records (hogar de Ex-Void, The Natvral, The Tubs), junto con una edición limitada en vinilo exclusiva para Rough Trade, que se agotó hace tiempo. En agosto de 2022 publicaron un EP digital, gracias al apoyo del programa ‘Open Fund’ de la PRS Foundation.

En noviembre de 2024 lanzaron su segundo álbum, Love In Mind, nuevamente con Prefect Records, dirigido por un exmiembro de The Field Mice. El disco fue mezclado por Ian Catt, productor de larga trayectoria de esa banda y de varios de sus proyectos derivados. Como era de esperarse, hay ecos del sonido característico de Sarah Records, pero el álbum también deja ver claramente influencias de Teenage Fanclub, The Byrds y Big Star.

La banda se ha ganado una excelente reputación por sus conmovedores directos y su entrañable presencia escénica, tras giras recientes con referentes del indie pop estadounidense como Jeanines y Lightheaded, además de haber compartido escenario con The Futureheads, Martha, Porridge Radio, The Tubs, entre otros.

“Glasgow’s DANCER return with “Just Say Yes”, the first single from their second full-length album, More or Less, set for release on September 12, 2025.

Dancer’s ‘More or Less’ started off as just ‘More’ but a certain prestige act returned with an album bearing this exact moniker, beating the band to the name only just. The adjusted title summarizes the new record and it’s creation story quite neatly though - Everything’s the same but everything is different - More or Less. 12 fresh tracks written with new drummer Luke Moran (Buffet Lunch), a bolder brighter sound pushes Dancer into more sophisticated realms and yet they have never been scuzzier or more party-ready than at times on this selection.

Slack Times’ new single “Swing the Dial” is out NOW. Available for streaming everywhere!

“This is a song we started recording during our sessions for the Gone Things EP. We didn’t finish it, though. We revisited it earlier this year because we’ve been playing the song live, and we realized it was worth going back into the studio to finish what we started. It’s a fun one because Stuart plays lead on the breakdown at the end, and Abby added some glockenspiel and background vocals. Overall, we’re happy with how it turned out.” Chris McCauley

Slack Times, featuring longtime collaborators Chris McCauley, Abby Anderson, and Stuart Norman, focuses on creating jangly, pop songs reminiscent of early Flying Nun and K Records. The band’s first full length Carried Away (Meritorio Records, 2022) boasted a bigger sound with a five-piece lineup. Since 2023, the band has pared back that sound and works as a trio. They recorded and released an EP Gone Things (Meritorio Records, 2024) at Ol Elegante studios in Birmingham, AL, with help from friends Les Nuby and Seth Brown. The band’s newest single “Swing the Dial” is the last track from that session. Chris sang and played 12-string guitar, Abby played drums and added harmonies glockenspiel, and Stuart played bass and lead guitar. The band plans to play a few shows around the Southeast before working on their next full length record scheduled for release early next year.
