"Every time someone says they don't like my films, they're actually voting for more cinema made by committees and focus groups. And that, honestly, seems more troubling to me than any criticism.
I'm not here to convince anyone to like my films. What I am saying is that every time you say "Snyder sucks," you're saying—even if you don't know it—"give me more films that follow the manual, that don't risk anything, and that are designed by algorithms.
Because yes, you can hate my films and that's perfectly fine. But don't be fooled: every vote against a personal vision is one more step toward formulaic, predictable, soulless cinema. Cinema that's tested with polls and approved by committee.
