On 16 Days of Activism and why the call to end digital violence against women and girls seems far fetched.

It has come to our attention that misogynistic bhai saab trolls these days get triggered even by the fail-safe dessert content, if the person posting it is a womaniyaa.

We are smack in the middle of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which began on 25 November, the same day Meta India held its glitzy creators gathering with no mention of protecting women from online abuse and harassment on its platform. Ironically, the theme for this year’s 16 Days of Activism is to end digital violence against all women and girls.

Somebody at Meta needs to get better at scheduling their future fancy events.

About *that* story from Nepal! Would the New York Times have published a half-baked investigation like this if the protests had happened in the US or Europe? Or is it easier to speculate and rely on hearsay simply because the story is located in Nepal, a country that most of the globe is unfamiliar with?

Stories like these only serve to delegitimize the September 8 and 9 protests.

Nepali media and Nepal’s “macho hill nationalism” just can’t seem to catch a break.

Two weeks ago, it was the sidelining of Dr. Sangeeta Mishra as Health Minister over “controversial claims”, and now it’s the relentless attacks on the young climate activist and filmmaker Tashi Lhazom from Humla, who was reportedly being considered for a seat in the cabinet. Despite their impressive resumes, awards and accolades,—Mishra, a Madhesi woman with a naturalised Nepali citizenship and Lhazom a resident of Humla—both women have been deemed unfit for the roles, because they’ve failed the ultimate Nepalipan test.
