'It's hard for a non-guitarist to get the depth of moving to the Telecaster, but it's a huge thing. 'It's very austere - the least gimmicky and the most direct instrument possible. It's a board with strings on it, basically, and pickups. There's no place to hide with a Tele-caster. It's kind of the equivalent for a guitarist of what checking into a convent is for a woman.’
