Memorial Day at Concordia, Transportation Day at RR Museum in Las Cruces
Memorial Day is coming up soon, and this year, a special observance will take place at El Paso’s historic Concordia Cemetery. On May 29, the Concordia Heritage Association will honor the 270 veterans who are buried in Concordia. They fought in the Mexican-American War, on both sides of the Civil War, in the Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
On the May 6 broadcast of “The El Paso History Radio Show,” host
Andrew J. Polk talks with Patricia Kiddney of the Concordia Heritage
Association about the forgotten veterans of Concordia.
Also on May 6, we’ll hear from Tori Pyle, the head of the Railroad
Museum in Las Cruces, with details on Transportation Day. It’s a
family-friendly event with trains, trucks, bikes and more, as the museum looks at the past, present and future of transportation in the area.
