Red Glass Films Collaboratory of horror fans/actors/writers/fx-artists/etc, working together to make bizarre films. So what does that mean?

Although it may seem bizarre, we had a crazy idea….Let’s use horror films to save lives. That means that Red Glass Films donates over 50% of film proceeds to support research and care for terminal illnesses, because there’s real horror in waiting to die from a disease with no cure. We think true horror should be for entertainment purposes only, and we’re stepping up to make it happen. We're a diff

erent kind of storyteller making films for a different kind of horror fan. If you are drawn to unique and mysterious stories; if you're not afraid to experience the unknown - then our films are made for you. If you're looking for normal, then go watch wheel of fortune…

This is the ending scene from our surreal short horror film “My Last Wish” – if you’ve seen it, you’ll notice that something’s different. I think there is another story here...but I can't figure it out.

How do you feel about AI in film production? I see the pros and cons. It definitely would’ve upped our game back in the day when we literally had like a $25 special FX budget. However, will it take work away from actual, skilled artists?

Regardless of my own opinion, it’s here to stay and much like the story arc of digital effects, will only get better with time. Eventually anyone will be able to make anything without even trying. I’ve always been interested in technology, even when I was training to be a practical special effects artist. I thought the blend of digital and practical tools were ideal in the right artist’s hands…but I’m not sure if that’s still true with AI?

But then, where do you draw the line with these tools? Aren’t most tools like footage stabilizers and color correction technically some kind of machine-based process that takes the work out of some artist’s hands? Like the guy who used to have to light a scene by hand, or that really good steady-cam operator?

It’s certainly a weird time thought for someone who’s put in the work – but I also can imagine what the future of filmmaking could be like.

Do you know this place or somewhere like it? It could be worth 💸!

We’re scouting a scenic road for an upcoming short film, and it’s worth some cash if you can help us out!

🎬 What we’re looking for:
A quiet, curvy road with a large tree in North County, San Diego — the more cinematic, the better.
Bonus if it’s on private property or a service access road (less traffic = more magic).

📩 DM us a photo of your spot. If we use your location, we’ll pay you a $50 finder’s fee.

Calling all practical, digital, makeup FX artists in the San Diego area to help bring some collaborative, new indie horror/sci-fi/genre dreams to life. If you’re a prop maker, creature designer, or just someone who loves hands-on movie magic, let’s make something wild!

Keep it creepy. Keep it real. DM for details.

On this day in 2010 we released our surreal horror film; Little Black Things. It’s a tribute to David Lynch. Every year we give this one a re-watch…but this year feels different.

Synopsis: In a decaying industrial wasteland, Marcus and Lynette’s already-tense life turns nightmarish as strange black marks on her body release parasitic worms… and Marcus begins losing his mind. Are they being invaded, or is reality collapsing?

If you're following our film journey as it parallels the Friday the 13th franchise timeline (because we just keep coming back), we’re now on the fifth film! Turns out SHATTER was a mildly successful adventure in securing some investment funds, which means someone out there actually watched our last film (sorry about that). The good news is that we’re reinvesting those funds right back into the horror community. The better news is that I can no longer carry the torch alone.

After a lot of self-reflection, I realized that I can’t find the time or headspace to commit to living my best film life, so we’re collaborating with a new film studio on an interesting new short series that will not be uniquely horror. More on that later....

BREAKING: SHATTER is now on Tubi! Watch if you like movies about:
A detective losing his mind
A Luncatic pretending to be sane (or are they?)
Existential dread, & things that don't make sense
Jokes that probably aren't funny, but try anyway

Think of it as a B-movie that was inspired by David Lynch, but got lost somewhere weird and never came back.

You should probably watch it now, before they realize the mistake and take it down.

When a series of eerie and heinous crimes rock a sleepy New England town, Detective Mathews sets out to uncover how they are all linked.
