Such a fun day driving the Autobahn with and on South Silver Creek. Granite slides are possibly one of the most fun times you can have on the water. It was pretty high so we just did laps on this fun little slide.

Had an awesome week with and non-motorized boat operator training. It's always cool to see boating from a different angle and how you can use a raft as a rescue platform. Teathered boat practice, releasing from a teathered swim, lining practice, tension diagonal techniques, a high line rescue drill, and a night drill were all part of the training and honestly if you haven't had a rescue course lately you should get after it. 40 hours did not feel like enough training.

Feather Fest this about more than just paddling. It's about the community, the silliness of the river, coming together as boaters, general shenanigans, and a fond farewell to another summer of whitewater. It was awesome seeing everyone before we scatter for the winter and cold weather boating begins. Thank you to everyone who came out to support and the festival. It's a good cause that everyone in the river community can agree on so we're stoked to support them. BTW that sweet feather fest shirt this year was a .k.lee design.

So stoked on yesterday's training day with our junior team girls and Abby! We got to see training with their air crews, left a boat in a surf and had to go after it. CHP even hooked it up with some leftover ice cream. The pilots told us to call us if we need them, but when the girls were reminded if that during the boat recovery they said "Nah, we got this". Anyway great day on the water, but don't tell that Gwen was hanging out her dad's a fire fighter so it would be awkward 😳

In our latest article, we're looking at the idea of increasing your lowest level of mastery. When we're talking about mastery, we want to understand what skills you have that you can perform unconsciously and articulate to another person. The top end of your skills may be very high, but knowing what your low end of mastery is helps set you up for success when everything starts going sideways and your adrenaline takes over. Little tip, consistency in training makes all the difference when we're talking about mastery of skills. Check out the article and let's talk about what you feel your most prominent skill gap is.

Let’s be honest boating is one of the harshest environments you can put rope and webbing through. Boaters often complain that their gear is constantly falling apart and that gear doesn’t last due to the harsh strain we put on our gear. Between the water, microscopic sand, mold, and whatever else is hiding in the water, materials breakdown super quickly.rope. a little help from our friends we wanted to take a look at how quickly ropes break down and when to retire our ropes in our latest article.

Some people love being in the outdoors alone and getting to be by themselves with their own thoughts. A lot of people feel like the outdoors is their safe space, but humans are not meant to live in the water, it is not safe for us no matter how much gear we have. Risk management requires one of two things either avoidance or mitigation. Let's face it if you're reading this, you're not avoiding the rivers, so how do we mitigate risk on the water? In our latest article we'll be looking at this in depth.

Why does every piece of outdoor gear I own stink all the time? In our latest article, we're taking a deeper look into why it stinks. River gear for a variety of reasons, is the worst at holding the stank. There are really 2 factors at play here. It’s partly you and partly the environment. The reality is your gear stinks and we're gonna fix it…with science.

What do you do to help foster a positive safety environment? In our latest article, we're looking at red flags and when you should speak up upon encountering a higher risk scenario. Sometimes people miss things, sometimes ego is involved, and sometimes your unique skill set gives you a different perspective when you see something. Either way it's important to foster a community in which you can say something and your crew will listen. We also dropped a risk tolerance tool on the site as well.
