Movie Review: ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER

Paul Thomas Anderson's take on an action drama is powerful stuff, man. Definitely one of 2025's best, and also one of PTA's best. It's playing IN VISTAVISION in London, NYC, and LA. Watch it there if you can. DMV folks: It's playing in 70MM at the AFI Silver.

A brutal movie about what it takes to earn GOAT status that uses horror, drama, comedy, and hangout elements to say... well, everything and nothing. It's sound and fury in search of a message about childhood dreams turning into adult nightmares as one strives for greatness.

Movie Review: SPINAL TAP II: THE END CONTINUES

As a musician and a fan of Spinal Tap, this movie made me laugh. It's a different thing than its 1984 original, but it still has the heart that endeared the film and the band to me in the first place.

The third of four filmed Stephen King adaptations to be released this year. Powerful in its simplicity and its fight for humanity amid dehumanization. The cast is spectacular. The parallels and metaphors for our own lives, even more so.

Undoubtedly Michael Chaves' best entry of his four films in (or adjacent to) The Conjuring Universe. Much more enjoyable and solid than THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT, this one finds Chaves making more confident choices and not holding anything back.

Movie Review: CAUGHT STEALING

A throwback film in every sense of the word--tone, photography, color palette, acting and actor choices, time period, and action. Darren Aronofsky's adaptation of Charlie Huston's novel (for which Huston wrote the screenplay) is one of those movies that doesn't stop being weird, being a lot, or being terrific.

This low-key thriller cannot contain its undeniable energy. Riz Ahmed and Lily James are absolutely excellent, and the script and direction are flawless. One of the best I've seen in 2025.

Movie Review: FREAKIER FRIDAY.

Does it have its faults? Yes. Do those faults doom this movie? No. I had a lot of fun with it, and I have come to the conclusion that sometimes, a spectacular vibe *can* help offset negatives. Which, to be honest, were not plentiful in this movie.

This is my final review of any Paramount Pictures film, and I'm grateful that it was a good one. (The movie, that is; the review is up to you.) As a longtime fan of the NAKED GUN movies, this one was a gem.
