MOVIE REVIEW: Superman
https://dcfilmdom.com/2025/07/superman-2025-movie-review/
A much-needed break from "darker and grittier," James Gunn's take on the Man of Steel is bold, calling upon our better natures by satirizing our modern-day foibles. Couldn't ask for a better update for this historic character.

F1 is a carbon copy of TOP GUN: MAVERICK, from plot beats to action to even how the film ends, for God's sake. But y'know what? It is a damn enjoyable movie, and I would LOVE to see it again.

F1 has a terrific likability to it that papers over the fact that this is a near-carbon copy of director Joseph Kosinski's Top Gun: Maverick.

I enjoyed 28 YEARS LATER for its turn away from the adrenaline rush that came with the territory covered in the first two films, leaving room for returning director Danny Boyle to explore more personal, dramatic themes. Alfie Williams knocks it out of the park as Spike, a 12-year-old forced to grow up in ways he didn't expect.

Y'know what? A shot-for-shot remake it may be for, like, 95% of the movie, but the fun is rediscovering Hiccup, Toothless, and the rest of Berk with new actors (and one returning actor) who give us new reasons to be filled with wonder again. Normally, I sit on my thoughts for a while before writing.
I couldn't with this one.
My heart is so full after watching this incredibly humanistic and, as I say in my review, ruthlessly beautiful movie.
Here's my review of THE LIFE OF CHUCK.

MOVIE REVIEW: Karate Kid: Legends
This team-up/timeline crossover deserved more than what essentially feels like a feature-length recap. A movie like this, you've got to take your time to get things right, but the speed the script demands leaves no room for any depth. That said, it's cute enough for what it is. YMMV.
