In the UK, thousands of migrant victims and survivors of domestic abuse are falling through the cracks of the system. Unable to access housing or social security benefits, many women are left at risk of homelessness, exploitation, and even returning to abusive relationships.
Our latest short film, co-directed with Prof. Eylem Atakav and funded by the University of East Anglia (UEA), focuses on migrant victims and survivors of domestic abuse who are subject to the No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) condition in the UK. It features the courageous stories of migrant victims and survivors, and includes insightful commentary from MP Jess Phillips, Nazir Afzal OBE, Nicole Jacobs (Domestic Abuse Commissioner for England and Wales), as well as representatives from organizations such as Southall Black Sisters, the Latin American Women's Rights Service, and Karma Nirvana.
"Left Behind" aims to bring about a change in government policy, advocating for the support of domestic violence victims with No Recourse to Public Funds.
