This week on Rainbow Kinection we’ll be discussing NAIDOC Week 2024!

NAIDOC Week, which first began in 1975, provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

Held across the country from 7-14 July 2024, NAIDOC Week will celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.

This week on Rainbow Kinection we’ll be discussing Pride Month & the origins of the celebrations of Pride! 🌈

We learn about The Stonewall Riots which began in June, 1968 & some key historical figures who fought for justice & left an incredible mark on LGBT+ history.

We’ll also touch on some key dates in June, including HIV long term survivors day, neurodiversity pride day and men’s mental health week.

National Reconciliation Week is an important annual event in Australia that runs from 27 May to 3 June.
The theme for NRW 2024 is “Now More Than Ever”.

Tonight from 6pm on 100.9fm Noongar Radio Marley, Lily and Willow discuss Le***an Visibility Week & Non - Binary parents day.
Le***an Visibility Week provides an important platform for recognizing and celebrating the contributions and experiences of le***an women and non-binary people within the LGBTQ+ community.
Nonbinary Parents Day is celebrated every third Sunday in April.
This day recognizes and honors nonbinary parents who don’t identify solely as male or female. As parents, we can all learn from each other, regardless of our gender identity.
