Well this year’s Met Gala certainly inspired some fab outfits (writes Tony Mitchell) although there didn’t appear to be a square inch of latex anywhere to be seen! There were a few fet-adjacent styles but even the most confirmed rubber-lovers like Megan Thee Stallion were sporting more conventional fabrics this time.
For my money, the overall winner was Janelle Monáe, below, in this amazing (and possibly Picasso-inspired) piece of optical illusionary styling. Again, not latex (which Janelle has been known to favour) – but you can’t have everything, I suppose!
You can check out 146 of the Met Gala’s amazing looks at Entertainment Weekly’s Red Carpet album page here:

British photographer Keith Barker has been shooting shiny fashions both traditional and modern for many years. Working to high technical standards with all his subject matter, he has just produced a 2025 calendar that has fortuitously coincided with rubber rainwear, particular trench coats, having a moment in the high fashion spotlight. Fe**shistas review by Tony Mitchell; image by Keith Barker from ‘2025 Rainwear’.
