Violent Borders
Violent Borders is an investigative documentary that sheds light on abuses committed by the police of some EU countries along the Balkan Route. In particular, it focuses on interviews by women and minors. It iss an independent documentary by three freelance journalists. Violent Borders is still in progress. The footage was shot last year in reception centers and informal settlements across Serbia. Violent Borders is a collection of refugees’ stories and the violence they survived; the abuses they witnessed; and the violations of human rights they want to report. 95% of the refugees interviewed have denounced to have been subject to beating, robbery and push-backs, either at the Turkish border with Bulgaria or at the Serbian border with Hungary and Croatia. Violence and ill-treatment seem to be a permanent feature at the EU borders.
