Did you know that Van Gogh made 150 paintings and some 100 drawings during his time in Saint-Rémy? 🎨 He painted nature as he saw it and hoped that painting would help cure him of his illness.
Van Gogh painted this autumnal landscape during his stay at a psychiatric institution near Saint-Rémy, in the South of France. Although initially restricted to painting in his room, he soon resumed working outdoors. This painting reveals the full power of his mature style.

It is remarkable to see how Van Gogh painted the most colourful paintings in his ‘darker times’.

Before he died at the age of 83, Johnson Donatus Aihumekeokhai Ojeikere (1930-2014) spent more than three decades travelling across Nigeria and creating a visual time capsule of close to 1000 portraits of hair. This project came to be 'Hairstyles', an internationally acclaimed series that provides an enduringly beautiful and powerful insight into Nigerian culture.
