Unlike most rocky asteroids, Psyche is believed to be made almost entirely of metals such as iron, nickel, and even precious metals like gold and platinum. Scientists believe it could be the exposed core of a planet that never fully formed billions of years ago, making it not just valuable in money but priceless in knowledge about planetary formation.

NASA has already announced a mission to study Psyche up close. A spacecraft has been developed to travel across space and orbit the asteroid, with the goal of unlocking secrets about its composition and history. “Many years ago, as a struggling movie producer, I met one of Nigeria's richest men by accident, I went to invite a father to my movie premier and he was there, so I also extended an invitation to him. In d few minutes we met, he asked how much I spent producing d movie, and I told him 6million naira ( this was over 10yrs ago, 6m was still big money) and asked if he can invest in our next movie, he just smiled and waved me off. After a few times I tried to reach out to him for d investment in our next movie, he was unreachable, so I movd on.

Recently I read where same man said that he doesn't take any little person serious when it comes to business. So I now understand why he waved me off then, cos I was a struggling producer. 😂

“Frank Mordi To those who say “if the whole world uses it, it must be right” — or who dismiss the Ethiopian Calendar as merely “backdated” without knowing the roots — here’s something worth holding in your hand the next time someone treats time like an unquestionable fact.

Both the Gregorian and the Ethiopian calendars are anchored to the same event: the birth of Jesus Christ. But they don’t agree on which year that was. In the sixth century a monk named Dionysius Exiguus set a system that later became the basis for the Anno Domini era, and centuries later Europe adjusted the older Julian calendar with Pope Gregory’s 1582 reform (which deleted 11 days in October 1582 to correct accumulated drift). Those were attempts to make the calendar fit astronomy and theology — not a final word on historical fact.

Now the crucial historical point many skip: King Herod the Great — the ruler who ordered the massacre of the innocents in the Gospel narrative — died before the year 1 AD. Josephus, the first-century historian, ties Herod’s death to a lunar eclipse and other datable events; most scholars link that eclipse to 4 BCE and therefore place Herod’s death around 4 BCE. That forces Jesus’s birth to a date before Herod’s death — commonly estimated by historians as roughly between 6–4 BCE, not 1 AD. In short: the later “modern” calculation that put Christ at year 1 was off the mark.

Ethiopia’s calendar tradition — the Bahire Hasab " ባህረ ሐሳብ" ( The sea of thought)— did not adopt Dionysius’s exact reckoning or every later European reform. Because of its inherited calculation, the Ethiopian calendar’s count of years ends up closer to the historical window scholars give for Jesus’s birth. So when people say “Ethiopia is behind” or “the EC is simply backdated,” that ignores the long, defensible historical reasoning that underlies our counting.

This isn’t just pedantry about numbers. It’s about how communities remember and measure sacred time. The Ethiopian calendar is not a mistake; it’s an alternative timeline rooted in an older Christian calculation — one that many historians find more consistent with the available evidence about Herod and the years around Christ’s birth.

So if you value truth more than trend, let’s honour that memory. Today we step into 2018 EC, a New Year that carries faith, history, and continuity — not error.
