The Lebanese government is ready to fully implement a UN resolution that had aimed to end Hezbollah’s armed presence south of the Litani River as part of an agreement to stop war with Israel, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said.

Mikati said Lebanon was ready to fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and deploy the army south of the river, which lies about 30 km (around 20 miles) from Lebanon’s southern border.

As many as 14 paramedics were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon in the past two days, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

In a statement, the ministry said paramedics were killed while responding to calls by the civil defense center in the towns of Taybeh and Dir Siriane in the south, as well as in Tayr Debba and Houmine el-Faouqa.

The ministry also reported significant damage to Al-Murtada Hospital in Baalbek, leading to its temporary closure.

“Paramedics do not participate in military operations; they transport the deceased for burial and treat the injured until they can reach hospitals,” it added, questioning “whether Israel intends for the bloodshed to continue indefinitely.”

The ministry expressed concern over the international community’s lack of response, asking: “”Where is the international community and its responsibility to put an end to this escalating genocide?””

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed nearly 41,600 people, mostly women and children, following a cross-border attack by Hamas last Oct. 7.

Lebanon is under ATTACK and under OCCUPATION after Israeli Defence Forces INVADED the country - AGAIN!

The nation’s fate is unknown - will it be the next GAZA or will world leaders call an end to Israel’s violence, aggression, destruction and oppression?

We don’t know and I have lost all faith in the alleged global institutions, laws and leaders that were supposed to save the victim from the aggressor. In fact we have witnessed the opposite.

What we do know is that Lebanon is in turmoil with more than 2000 dead and 10,000 injured in less than a week, and more than a million innocent men, women and children who have been displaced after being forced to flee their homes in the south, Bekaa and Beirut due to the relentless IDF bombardment.

To help make sense of this, the Arab American Institute has put together a panel of experts, which I am privileged to be a part of, to discuss the developments in Lebanon.

I encourage you to join the discussion and become informed. Knowledge is power. We need to END OUR OWN IGNORANCE and be AWAKENED to what we can do. The facts will provide us all with the courage and motivation to ACT!
