Day 12 - Sky Tree/attempt to see the imperial palace/Akihabara/Roppongi - Sky Tree views of Fuji over Tokyo was cool but a low haze or smog still, we tried to see the imperial palace but turns out not that easy unless you book a tour inside, some shopping and arcades in Akihabara, and more views of Tokyo at night from an Evangelion event in Roppongi.

Day 10/11 - Back to Tokyo staying across the street from this shrine we spent a couple drunk nights wandering these grounds and the streets around. Some of the most fun interactions with locals and a few other travelers- I’ll miss these nights.

Day 8: A little bit of Fukuoka and whole lot of Sumo. The Grand Sumo Tournament day 2 at Fukuoka (Hakata) was awesome - my choice Midorifuji (Black Mawashi) lost but it was an entertaining match.

Day 7 - Rain for our last day in Kyoto before headed down to Fukuoka. Couple last minute shrines in the Gion area.

Day 6: I’m a few days behind but this day was the 4km hike up Mt. Inari through all the hundreds of Torii gates. Starts off with a mass migration of people which dwindle more and more the closer you get to the top. We then left did a quick hike through the bamboo forest and to a small theme park for the Yokai and Evangelion statue. They also seemed to be filming some samurai scenes there.

Day 4-5: Day 4 was mostly a travel day from Hakone to Kyoto and a bunch of shopping in Nishiki Market so no photos there. Day 5 was Nara with all the deer and shrines out there during sunset was awesome. We also did Teamlabs Kyoto which was an otherworldly experience… I’m hesitant to share the videos/photos from there to not spoil it for anyone who might go but it’s a must.

Day 3 - Hakone. Did the open air museum before taking a cable car to the ropeway over the mountains to the ship to get to the shrine. Stayed there late and got some beautiful and moody dusk photos. Mt. Fuji is around but hidden in the clouds ☁️

Day 2 - More Shinjuku streets before heading off into the mountains of Hakone. The town is at an elevation of 2,000ft and the train that took us up did several switchbacks reversing up steep inclines and in tunnels.

First full day in Japan yesterday - Shinjuku/Shibuya/Yoyogi/Meiji Shrine/Akihabara. Was a busy day 30,000 steps, helped a man move some signs and he gave us boiled eggs in front of the spiderman as a thank you, watched the culture day celebration in Meiji Shrine, headed to Shibuya for some shopping and Ramen. Rested up before heading back to Akihabara for the night.
