The first seaplane to successfully take off from water, and land again on water, did so in January 1911 and was invented by Glenn Curtis. Called "flying boats" at first, seaplanes were used extensively during WWI and WWII. A Little Slice of History and Innovation - In 1905, Portland, Oregon held a Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in their New York State Building. Presumably in honor of the exposition, this Buffalo, New York company advertised the Expo Watch Camera for sale. Note below the watch camera is an ad for a "pocket" folding kodak camera. They also sold camera film, other Brownie Cameras, and equipment for aspiring photographers to develop negatives themselves.
