Thankful for another spring spent chasing the “thunder”, although strange and frustrating the perseverance paid off near the very end. The 2025 season closes and the next chapter awaits, until next time!

Finding old relics and hanging trail cameras… I’ve scoured this ridge-line countless times in my life and somehow missed this old Pepsi can from a bygone era until now. I can only imagine the stories this old can could tell, who drank its contents, why it made its journey there and what has happened since that day. At one point I’d call this an eye sore and littering of the wild outdoors, but oddly I feel it earned its right on the landscape; to continue in with its story… it’s the little things in life!

Deploying some all new GoCam 2 cell cams in prime turkey locations! There are piles of red oak acorns and Beech nut littering the ground already paired with turkey sign; theoretically it should the right recipe to catch the flocks as they move through. Hopefully in the coming weeks the Spartans will capture some strutters in action and as opening day of spring turkey season approaches I’ll know just where to be!

I’m pretty late posting about the first event of the season in Foley Alabama, and since I seemed to have avoided the camera lenses this go around here’s some low quality pics of a high quality time on the range! I snagged the selfie for Mr on our group’s last target of the weekend and the tight arrow grouping speaks for itself.

It was an honor to be in a group with a 17 year old stud who absolutely handed out a butt whooping to everyone else in the Semi-Pro class. I literally think he hit more twelves than he missed! I however shot absolutely horrific on day one and on day two I found my rhythm again with a solid balance in yardage judging and shooting; it was better but still bad by my overly self-critical standards. Needless to say, seeing a podium finish was once more nowhere near in sight for me. But, what can I expect when I haven’t shot a full 3D round since last March! I know that’s very much unlike me. All I can say is I’ve really missed this game, and I’m ready to pour a lot more into it this season!
