A timeless long-nose, short-deck silhouette that turns heads anywhere it rolls—the Datsun 240Z Series I.

Born in 1971 as a Safari Gold, left-hand-drive US-spec car, this unit eventually found its way back to Malaysia, where the current owner undertook a full right-hand-drive conversion using original components. And while he was at it, a complete restoration certainly didn’t hurt.

This example remains as faithful to factory form as possible, with just the right amount of modernisation for reliability—because the owner actually drives his cars. Modernised air-conditioning, wiring and fuse systems, electric power steering and a set of Bilstein shocks are added to ensure effortless cruising.

A few tasteful personal touches elevate the cabin. The basketweave tweed seat insert and door trims complements the factory Safari Gold beautifully, and for the exterior, the polished Atara Racing Pisang wheels contemplated the original chrome bumpers seamlessly.

A respectful restoration and a 240Z that’s meant to be driven.

Never expected a 36-year-old W126 to be this good. The 3.0L M103 6-cylinder engine howls beautifully alongside with the additional 6-inches long wheelbase finished in period correct two-tone paint, and those spring seats with electrically adjustable rear seats, all wrapped in burlwood trims and cream leather interior — make this 300SEL something I’d love to drive in my retirement days! 🤣
