โ One of the Comfort Women of the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II.
Womenโs Month serves as a remarkable time to commemorate the hardships, accomplishments, and sacrifices of every woman in society and across history.
As we honor the resilience of women who continue to fight for justice and empowerment, we should take a moment to reminisce about the historical eventsโ the term "๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ง" derived from the Japanese word ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ฎ, merging Chinese characters meaning ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ or ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐๐๐ (๐ข-๐๐ง) with woman (๐๐ฎ). Throughout Japanโs occupation of the Philippines, the Japanese Imperial troops forced hundreds of thousands of women from different several countries to become their slaves inside the garrisons. The Comfort Women began voicing in the 1990s, pursuing justice for the atrocities they have endured.
Despite the aches, they persevered with unwavering strength. The women refused to be silenced, instead, they strived forward to get the recognition they were worthy of. Moreover, bravely fought for their rights as a woman. Regardless of their struggles in the historical past, they were recognized as symbols of hope and resilience.
