My tribute to Roy Ayers on is now available on soundcloud.

I put my heart and soul in to this mix and tried my best to honor the wide variety of Roy’s catalog, which was such a joy to go back through and listen to.

Join me tomorrow on as I pay tribute to the late Roberta Flack and Gwen McCrae. Two legends who passed away this week.

Roberta Flack passed away on 2/24/25 and has been a key figure and influence on R&B music, blending Jazz, Folk and R&B with her classical Piano skills and authentic, emotive, and instantly recognizable vocals. With roots in gospel, Roberta was trained in classical music and was admitted to Howard University on a full scholarship at the age of just 15. She graduated with a degree in music and went on to teach, write, arrange, sing (of course) and even produce.

Gwen McCrae, who passed away just 3 days before Flack (on 2/21/25) was known as “The queen of rare groove” and has been sampled by countless rappers, djs, and producers. Also getting her roots in gospel music, she married to soul/disco singer George McCrae (“Rock your baby”) and the two began recording music together. Singer Betty Wright brought them to the famous Miami based disco label TK Records, where her funk, soul and disco grooves landed her on the Billboard charts in 1975. She remained active into the 2020’s.

I’ll be playing songs from both of these heavy hitters as well as music from those in their respective spheres, covers of their famous songs and maybe even some remixes.
