The Reed College Creative Review (RCCR) publishes the best poetry, prose, photography and visual art of the Reed student body. Late Fall semester, applications open to be part of the Review and Editing boards. The Review Board selects only for interest in art—the applications are to guarantee people come to meetings to talk about and really consider the submissions, rather than just having an open voting process online (we would rather artists not just send links to friends to vote on their own pieces). Pieces are selected in order of how many positive votes they receive, and we are able to publish about 50 pieces of work each year. The Review process is blind—only one member of the Editing board can see names on submissions before they're chosen, and this is due to a funding issue—we can't afford the program to strip names off submissions for us. The Editing board requires slightly more commitment—we have Assistant Editors, a Submissions Manager, a Publicity Coordinator, and a small Layout & Design team. We work together to put together the publication and get it printed and out for distribution usually in early May.
