The Akans call this animal mampam (monitor lizard).

They believe it’s deaf. If you meet it in the bush, you can make all the noise you want, it won’t hear you. But the moment it sets eyes on you, it will bolt in any direction just to save its head.

Unfortunately, after a few minutes, it becomes extremely tired and weak. At that point, anyone can easily pick it up.

So the Akans have a proverb: “Ɛnkɔ tu mampam mirika” to wit, don’t run like the monitor lizard.

The wisdom in this saying is simple: in life, one must be careful and deliberate in making decisions, otherwise you may crash or fall into the waiting hands of your enemy, just like the mampam.

The late former president of Ghana, Flt. Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings calmly and respectfully listened to the late Denkyirahene, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Boa Amponsɛm III.

There are reasons why the late first president of Ghana, Osagyefuo Dr. Kwame wanted to make Denkyirahene the King of Ghana.

📸 Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah at the Akosombo Dam site, 1961

In 1961, Kwame Nkrumah stood at the foundations of what would become one of Africa’s most ambitious infrastructure projects — the Akosombo Dam, centerpiece of the Volta River Project (1961–1965).

He envisioned it not just as a source of electricity, but as the engine of Ghana’s economic independence — powering industries, especially aluminium smelting through VALCO, while symbolizing Africa’s ability to modernize and build for itself.

Constructed by an Italian consortium, the project gave birth to Lake Volta, one of the world’s largest man-made lakes, and provided hydroelectric power that transformed Tema and Ghana’s industrial growth.

Though not all of Nkrumah’s industrial dreams materialized, the dam remains a monument to his vision of linking political freedom with economic transformation — a legacy still felt today.

Gross disrespect, especially towards our traditional leaders and the elderly, is alien in our Akan traditional system and societies. That notwithstanding. The precedent set by us is what we are reaping.

I am not condoning violence or any form of violence but Mustapha too Akan matter be your matter?

Now we don't even know where you bought your new housing, from Circle or PZ to even trace and catch those who gave you a fake one.

Don't worry, I know you would be accepted to defend them now by force.

An Akpafu chief presents a piece of iron to a German colonial officer, holding it with locally forged tongs. The officer appears elevated, standing on stones—perhaps to seem taller than the chief. Circa 1900s.

The Akpafu are Guan-speaking Mawu people of Ghana’s Oti Region, famed for iron-smelting, farming, and custodianship of the Siwu language, with deep cultural and historical ties to the Lolobi.

The man who moved Ghana from a predominantly human security state to a cyber security state.

The man who left his family and well paying job in the UK in 2007 to serve his nation.

The architect of the National Signals Bureau.
The brain behind the IP address tracking system in Ghana.

The man who led a team to rescue the Canadian girls that were kidnapped sometime in 2019.

The man who has overseen and protected the Nation’s cyber security network for over 15 years.

The man who ensured cyber intelligence operations were undertaken to prevent terrorist from entering Ghana between 2021 - 2023 when extremist invaded neighboring countries.

Honestly, I think this man has not been celebrated enough.

Yet he is the most vilified, denigrated, maligned and defamed security chief in the history of Ghana because of petty politics BUT let’s give time some time.

His name is Ing. Kwabena Adu Boahene - A devoted Christian, Father, Husband, Career Engineer and Security Professional.
