In infants, diarrhea is defined as the passage of loose, watery stools three or more times a day. It is essential to seek medical attention if your 3-month-old baby is experiencing diarrhea, as they can quickly become dehydrated and develop complications. The treatment for diarrhea in infants typically involves:

Rehydration: It is crucial to replace the fluids and electrolytes lost through diarrhea by giving the baby frequent sips of oral rehydration solutions (ORS) or breast milk if they are still familly staff nursing. Infants should not be given water or other fluids as this can lead to further dehydration.

Breastfeeding: If the baby is still , continue to breastfeed as this provides essential nutrients and antibodies that can help fight the infection causing the diarrhea.

Medications: Antibiotics are not typically prescribed for diarrhea in infants, as most cases are caused by viral or bacterial infections that will resolve on their own. However, the healthcare provider may recommend probiotics or other medications to help relieve the symptoms.

Monitoring: Keep a close eye on the baby's symptoms, including their urine output, to ensure they are adequately hydrated. If the diarrhea persists or worsens, it is essential to seek medical attention as soon as possible.

It is also crucial to practice good hygiene, including washing your hands thoroughly before and after changing the baby's diaper, to prevent the spread of the infection to others.
