Yet another Sims 2 build. Let me know if you'd like to see more of these! The writeup about this one:
"The Fair Lady Diner is a SimCity staple. Founded in 1968 by chef and socialite Elisabeth Townie, it has been providing Sims a familiar and relaxing place to dine for over 50 years.
When the diner first opened in 1968, it was unlike anything Sims had ever seen. Not only did loud flower wallpaper adorn the walls, foliage could be found hanging around virtually every square inch of the dining area. Residents of SimCity nicknamed the diner the 'Elisabeth Gardens' as they descended upon the restaurant in flocks to see just what Elisabeth Townie would do next. Demand was so high that a sunroom with additional seating was added to the front of the building in 1974. At that time, the informal 'Elisabeth Gardens' name was added to the building.
As times changed, so did decor trends. By 1984, Elisabeth Townie was aging and turned the diner over to her son, Fred. Upon takeover, he made a radical decision: eliminate the garden theme, hang new wallpaper and paneling, and add his own recipes to the menu alongside his mother's. Surprisingly, the changes were well received, and the diner grew even more popular.
Tragically, in 1988, Elisabeth Townie passed. As a dedication to his mother's memory and the popularity of the Fair Lady, ground was broken in April 1989 on an expansion at the rear of the building that would add even more additional seating. In July 1989, the diner temporarily closed to allow for the ceilings, HVAC, lighting, flooring, and furnishings to be updated. On August 5, 1989, at 12 noon, the Fair Lady Diner held a grand reopening ceremony rededicating the finished building in memory of Elisabeth Townie on what would've been her 79th birthday.
Fred Townie would continue to be in charge of all day-to-day operations until 2007, when he turned the diner over to his son, Cody. Cody has vowed to keep the ever-popular diner the same—'just as Grandma Elisabeth would've wanted it.'
The Fair Lady Diner is open every day serving fresh homestyle cuisine from 6:30 AM to 8 PM. Come in today to see what's been drawing Sims from far and wide for over 50 years—but be prepared to wait!"
