morioka, iwate prefecture > 2 hr 30m bullet train from tokyo
• rent a car to get the whole experience (we recommend booking with a local company like nippon for as little as £40 a day!)
• visit the mountains in hachimantai
• traditional hotel we stayed at > mori-no-kaze oushuku ホテル森の風鶯宿
• vintage shopping at 2nd street > 〒020-0022 iwate, morioka
• get pizza > shizukuishi soul kitchen, 54-6 kakiki, shizukuishi,
it may be because i’m biased cause josh spent many years here, but if you’re looking for an actual ‘off the beaten path’ place that I have never heard anyone else talk about, make it morioka! it’s a gorgeous spot in japan, and much cheaper than the likes of tokyo and osaka! you’re also gonna be hard presssed to find anyone else who’s been here and there wasn’t a tourist in sight 👀
