We’re super happy and even more proud of our friend Joe “Bam-Bam” Wysocki for being hired and assuming the command today as the newly created Deputy Fire Chief spot back in Hanover Pa. York County Pa.

One of the funniest guys we know but more importantly, a smart, educated, experienced and well liked fireman.

On top of all that great news, Joe retires soon from the United States Air Force as the fire chief of the Dover Air Force Base, In Delaware after two plus decades of service which includes several deployments to war.

Best wishes to you CHIEF!

We’d like to take a moment and wish our long time friend firefighter Charlie Hale a happy retirement as today he is working his last tour as the engine 79-3 driver.

Charlie will complete 34 years with the Greater Hanover Area Fire Department tomorrow at 07:00 hours.

Best wishes our friend. Stay busy and stay healthy in retirement, you earned it.

Came across this little video I made from six years ago (2018) fire In Hanover Borough. A lot of good firefighting at this extremely cold night.

Hope you enjoy the look back.

Best with sound on!

Okay, why not Florida 911 Photography?

It’s not gonna happen on a regular basis but when in the immediate vicinity, ya take it.

Today, the Sarasota County 911 alerted the box assignment for the structure fire on Baneberry Court here in North Venice.

Engine companies 51, 52 and 53 along with Rescue (EMS/Firefighters) arrived to single story, single family home with nothing visible from the exterior.

Crews made entry to the occupied structure to find smoke from the oven. Firefighters removed a charred cardboard pizza box from the oven. The incident was cleared within 20 minutes.

Note: all details were made by my observation only, nothing has been verified by any Venice Fire Department or Sarasota County Fire Department personnel.

As the year comes to an end today, our “LOOKING BACK” has come to an end.

Over the year, I posted every incident we took photos of over the ten years we were in operation (2009-2019).

I hope you enjoyed looking back at all the crazy incidents handled by our first responders, for such a small piece of the country, its clear our area sees its share of craziness and sadness from accidents to fires.

Theres not much more I can do with this page, so this is probably the last post.

For those still riding fire truck, ambulances, helicopters or in police cars, please be safe every day.

Have a safe and happy 2024.

LOOKING BACK

ON THIS DATE, December 31, 1985 New Oxford Fire Company firefighter and EMT Kathy Hippensteel succumbed to injuries suffered in the line if duty.

Hippensteel was riding on the tailboard of Engine 131 enroute to a multiple alarm fire in Adams County box 12, Abbottstown Pa. on December 18th, thirteen days prior when the engine was involved in a accident, over turning and causing Kathy to be thrown from the tailboard.

Kathy was the first line of duty death in Adams County, as well as the first female firefighter to die in the line of duty in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Please join us in remembering Kathryn Murren Hippensteel on the 38th anniversary of her death.

PLEASE SHARE A MEMORY OF KATHY YOU HAVE IN THE COMMENTS.

Continue to rest in peace Kathy, we miss you.
