Radio from the 'Hill' with Bill Hello, I'm Bill, a radio presenter with Sunbury Radio [3NRG] since May 2005. I've presented hundreds of programs covering a range of music genres.

24/02/2025

Greetings folks,
Your veteran/vintage presenter is returning to air on a couple of occasions over the next ten days.
Wednesday, February 26th, 8pm-10pm, filling in for Dean Walker, with a mix of Blues and Folk tracks: might even slip in a track from Marilla Homes’ newest album, just released ‘Marilla and Friends’.
Wednesday, 5th March, 6pm – 8pm, filling in for Andrew Smith, a selection of mostly Aussie rock tracks from the 60s through to the 90s.
Join Bill, at the above times on Sunbury Radio 99.3 FM and via the respective Tune In Apps.

Bill returns briefly to the radio waves over the next few days in a relieving capacity.
Sunday morning - sitting in for Garry’s ‘Sunday morning Country’ – from 9am to Noon with my selection of Country tracks, mainly Aussie artists, hopefully something for a varied Country music audience. We might slot in a couple of early Aussie traditional ‘folk-style' tracks with renditions of the words of Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson, as performed by the Queensland Tiger.
Wednesday night from 8pm- 10pm – sitting in for Dean, he is also having a brief well-earned break - a slight change from the usual ‘In the Jailhouse Tonight’ format [with Dean’s approval], a selection of Australian [and some International] female vocalists, many of whom listeners will be familiar with, others maybe not so much, unless you have listened to Bill’s past shows!
Join Bill on Sunbury Radio, 99.3 FM, or through the radio apps.

I seem to be having trouble [a pleasant trouble] staying away from the radio - this Wednesday evening between 6pm – 8pm, I have the privilege of filling in again, this time for Andrew Smith’s Chrome Plated Yabby Show - my music will be a little different to the genres I’ve featured over the past few years, a selection of Aussie Rock ‘n’ Roll from the 60s to the 80s – a small sample includes bands such as Australian Crawl, Midnight Oil, Split Enz, Mental As Anything, Little River Band, Cold Chisel, and individual performers such as John Paul Young, Normie Rowe, Russell Morris, Jon English, Jenny Morris, Jimmy Barnes, and others.
Join Bill for a bit of ‘rocking’ with your dinner, Wednesday 6pm on 99.3FM, or via the Tune In Aps.

This coming Wednesday night [18th September], this ageing radio presenter will make a brief return to the airwaves of Sunbury Radio - yes, I’m pleased to fill-in for Dean Walker’s ‘In the Jailhouse Tonight! While the show might vary slightly from Dean’s usual great selection of recent releases and intriguing interviews, I plan to present two hours of music from the Folk and Country music genres, maybe even a hint of Blues along the way, with a traditional introductory ‘jailhouse theme’ from Johnny Cash.
Some of the other singers & musicians to be featured will include Mark O’Connor, Lanie Lane, Zeptepi, Julie Wilson, Alanna & Alicia Egan, Kate Rowe, Mama Kin, Mike Brady & the Ashton Smith Singers, John O’Shea, The Beggars, Andrea Robertson, Troy Cassar Daley, Marilla & Emily, Brian Fraser, Pete Stone, The Weeping Willows, The Little Stevies, to name a few. And if time permits, we’ll try and slot in the likes of Paul Kelly, Holly Throsby, Greg Champion, Ashleigh Southern, etc.
We will also acknowledge last week’s R U OK Day with Brisbane’s Aislinn Sharp & the Choir of Hard Knocks performing ‘Matter’, a song especially produced for that occasion.
Join myself, Bill, from 8pm Wednesday - and a reminder, Dean will return as normal on Wednesday, the 25th Sept.

In this week’s Breakfast Coffee Niche on Thursday morning, 2nd May [note earlier start from 6.30 am], we are going to attempt to represent ‘some’ of the artists that I have featured in various programs since May, 2005. Unfortunately, due to time limits, one can never achieve the degree of representation I’d to be able to share. However, with a program that will concentrate in the main, on Australian performers, and basically in the following order, the artists we will be featuring will be: -
Don Burrows & James Morrison; Zepher; Marilla Homes; James Rufatt; Windsor for the Derby; Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole; Dawn Barrington; Troy Cassar Daley; Frances Madden; Judith Durham, Anthony Warlow & Lucy Maunder; Henry K & the Swingin’ B Team; Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter; Uncle Jack Charles; Rachel & Becky Unthanks[UK]; Brian Fraser; Alanna & Alicia Egan; Buena Vista Social Club; Marilla & The Housemen; Leigh Carriage; The Queensland Tiger; Joan Baez; Joe Cocker; Fitzroy Express; Seaman Dan; Aislinn Sharp; Eva Cassidy, Andrea Robertson; Johnny O’Keefe; Ashleigh Southern; Dawn Barrington [again]; James Rufatt [again]; Katie Noonan; Marilla Homes [again]; Tony Christie; Ian Hughes & His Orchestra; Peter Allan; Simply Bushed.
And if time permits [wishful thinking], maybe tracks from Chris McNulty; Ross Gillard; Mel Dobra; Gurrumul; Leonard Cohen; Anne Sofie Von Otter, and Elton John!!

23/04/2024

Greetings listeners to Sunbury Radio.
In this week’s Breakfast Coffee Niche [Thursday morning] we will be devoting the whole program to the recognition and acknowledgement of ANZAC Day - through the mediums of songs from the war years - some modern Folk and Country artists’ tributes to all conflicts in which Australia has been involved - a selection of traditional military band music - Jack Thompson relating briefly the stories of the bombing of Darwin, and the Papua conflicts- and the recorded voices of some of the original Diggers who served at Gallipoli [and survived to return home] recalling their experiences.
Recorded between 1953 and 1990, these compelling and deeply emotional first-hand accounts drawn from the ABC archives, ‘Anzac Voices’ is the story of Gallipoli, as told by those who lived through it – regular troops, senior commanders, stretcher-bearers, signal operators, a nurse and a Turkish general, as well as Australia’s official war correspondent. Time won’t allow us to hear all of them unfortunately, but we’ve selected five of the twelve presentations and these will be interspersed throughout the program.
3NRG [Sunbury Radio] will as usual be broadcasting the Sunbury Dawn Service at 6am, and the main Anzac Service from 10.30 am – Dean Walker will be monitoring the studio during those periods, both before and after the morning’s Breakfast Coffee Niche which will be on air from 6.40 am until 10 am, on Sunbury Radio, 99.3FM or via the tune in apps.
A further reminder that your host is hanging up his microphone after next week’s program [2nd May] which will be our final Breakfast Coffee Niche.
