Morning all!!
I get fairly regular messages from friends and artists asking what has been going on since the Electro Wave Show stopped, which in itself is really nice and thank you to everyone for asking and keeping in touch.
The show stopped because I was a) knackered, b) finding it hard to fit everything in life and c) I could see that if I didn't stop, it would become a chore. I have no regrets at all stopping the show and you'll all be happy not having my Friday night spam in your feed.
After the show stopped, the headphones came off. I literally stopped listening to music which was something I didn't expect. From listening to new music 4 hours a day, to nothing was not expected, but I really REALLY enjoyed the silence (see what I did there). It was very alien at first, driving the car in silence and not being sat on the computer for 14 hours a day.
Recently, I've been looking at what I can do in the electronic music sphere. The first thing I needed to do was move off the Mi### Dj software and over to Traktor. I've got a Traktor controller so makes sense to use the software which has some great features that are not in Mi###. So I'm learning how to use the controller properly and also learning how to better transition.
Looking at the music library, it was a mess, so I'm spending some time tidying that up and organising it so I can find tracks easier, getting rid of sub standard music that I will never play. I've got nearly 60,000 tracks on my hard drives so managing those is a job and a half, making sure they are analysed with the bpm and key, making sure they are backed up so if I love the hard drives, I can get them from the cloud etc. Belt and braces stuff.
I still get music sent to me on a daily basis (some people don't even know the show has stopped, sack the show's social media manager, I say!!) and I've started listening to it again, which has been really good. Yes, there are some poor tracks out there but there is a lot of great music around and I want to be part of those journeys.
As for the future......The show will come back. As to what format or when, I'm unsure. It might be weekly, bi weekly or monthly. It might use a radio station, it might be on another platform. As to the content, it could be just mixes, might have some podcasts in there, I'm weighing up all the options and when 'something' comes back, it will be marketed properly (spending some time working on marketing strategies too).
So there you go, long winded way of saying, done nothing since the show finished and looking at bringing something back in the future. :-)
