The events also showcase Risan Media’s short documentary film titled, Northward, that tells the story of socially-conscious, Colorado band, Salem touring and snowboarding throughout Alaska. Risan Media’s short film, Northward, is now being distributed throughout Europe on the AbsintheTV channel on Samsung TV Plus and is available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the UK. Northward is a short documentary that chronicles the story of Colorado-based band, Salem, that performs Todd Anders Johnson’s socially-conscious compositions blending alternative rock, world, hip-hop, jazz and neo-soul. The band is composed of snowboarders and skiers and Salem tours throughout North America with Risan Project multi-media events featuring concerts alongside action sports films and content from the environmental, outdoor and cannabis industries.

AbsintheTV is a 24 hour linear channel with video on demand options that launched February 12 on Samsung TV Plus. It’s here to legitimately represent the past, present and future of five categories that appeal most to people emerged in boardsports culture: Art/Music/Surf/Skate/Snow. A free channel on TV Plus, AbsintheTV is available on all Samsung smart TVs in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the UK. As Samsung expands their TV Plus program, AbsintheTV will be included in France in September and Italy and Spain shortly thereafter, with North America coming in the not too distant future. For this upcoming on December 3rd, we are looking to raise funds to help feed our current herd of mustangs for the winter. Our 34 residents live at 10,000 feet elevation in the mountains of Colorado, and that means winter is long and harsh, requiring the herd to be supplemented with hay around the clock. One 1,000 lb. bale of hay costs $180, and we feed roughly 40 bales a month. That means the cost of hay is upwards of $7,000 in just ONE month!

All of the mustangs in our care have lost their freedom in the western United States, rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management. Once captured, these horses find themselves in government holding pens, facing two possible futures: adoption or a lifetime in long-term holding. Tragically, some may fall through the cracks, enduring abuse, neglect, or even being shipped to slaughter. Rocky Mountain Mustang Refuge is committed to being part of the solution, offering these horses a chance for a safe and renewed life. Through the refuge, they can be adopted (RMMR always keeps track of its adopted horses), or they can find sanctuary with us if they struggle to adjust to domestic life.
