BEHIND THE FOLD: ’s ambitious new project infuses a French colonial archive with a critical rupture on how the female Muslim body has been objectified, controlled and symbolised through the camera.

Drawing on the vast Gaëtan de Clérambault archives of the , Afshar created over 900 silver gelatin handprints in collaboration with & of glitched fragments from the museum’s databases, which will be exhibited this September.

Afshar delves into the orientalist gaze of French psychoanalyst Gaëtan de Clérambault and his obsessive archive of veiled women, critically excavating through reappropriation to create an immersive installation featuring more than 900 silver gelatin prints at the . Afshar’s interventions in fragmenting this colonial archive turn the Western gaze back on itself—inviting viewers to question the power dynamics embedded in the act of looking and to confront the cultural biases projected onto the veil.

Artists , , and were invited to engage deeply with the savoir-faire of Hermès artisans working in silk, leather, crystal and metal—resulting in wholly new artistic gestures shaped by the material logic of the atelier. In this weekend: Discover a portfolio of ’s radical, performative pedagogic works from his recent release THE CLASSROOM. Between 1994 and 2002, Benohoud collaborated with his students to reimagine their Marrakech classroom as a space of absurdity, control and poetic defiance. Their staged gestures—balancing chairs, cardboard masks, fishing lines—reveal the silent pressures of Moroccan post‑colonial society while offering moments of imagination and deviation.
