This is the VERY FIRST thing Jesus preaches in Mark!

And look at when He says…

RIGHT AFTER John the Baptist was imprisoned.

Jesus steps onto the scene and, in ONE powerful verse, sums up John's message in the wilderness.

There are FOUR powerful parts to what Jesus says:

1. THE TIME IS FULFILLED!

This is HUGE!

God’s waiting period is over. The time the prophets talked about is here. The promises are coming true RIGHT NOW!

Jesus wasn’t talking about something way off in the future.

It was happening.

RIGHT THEN.

RIGHT THERE.

2. THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND!

“At hand” means NEAR.
It means WITHIN REACH.

Think about what Jesus was telling them!

God’s kingdom is here, and THE KING IS STANDING RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF THEM!

They were looking at the One they had been waiting for!

3. REPENT YE!
Repent means to change your mind and turn around.

You stop going YOUR way.

You start going GOD’S way.

It’s a change of direction.

4. BELIEVE THE GOSPEL!

And this is where it gets powerful.

The gospel means “The Good News.”

Jesus tells them to believe it, trust it, and act on it.

Faith is more than agreeing with facts.

Faith puts your FULL TRUST in Christ.

He finished the work.

You believe what He said and claim what He already paid for.

Now notice something important:

Jesus puts REPENTANCE and BELIEF together.

They belong together.

Matthew Henry, an English minister who lived from 1662 to 1714, wrote that Christ has joined these two together, and no one should pull them apart.

REPENTANCE turns you AWAY from sin.

FAITH turns you TOWARD the Savior.

That is the message Jesus walked onto the scene preaching.

REPENT.

BELIEVE.

THE KINGDOM IS HERE,
AND FILLED WITH GOD’S PROMISES‼️

Today, We Stand in Victory ⚔️🛡️

Chosen one, ask yourself;
What am I thinking?
What am I speaking?

Align yourself with the word of God, Amen‼️

“My tongue has the power of life and death, and I will speak God’s Word and eat the fruit of it.”
