The 2025 Adventure Writers Competition is now closed! We will reopen for submissions on January 1, 2026!

Tentative announcement dates:
Top Ten Semi-finalists: June 30
Three Finalists: August 1
Winner: October 11

Award ceremony will be held at the 2026 Clive Cussler Collector's Society Convention on October 11th!

The 2025 Adventure Writing competition is open for entries January 1 - April 30, 2025! www.adventurewriterscompetition.com

10 Semifinalists and 3 Finalists will be announced on the AWC site (link above). And prizes? You bet!

• $1000 to the Winner of the competition, $500 to each of the 2 Finalist runners-up!
• All Finalists receive a “Clive” Grandmaster trophy!
• Finalists receive a video book trailer and interview by the AWC that will be posted on the AWC website and allowed to use that video file for marketing.
• Semi-finalists, finalists, and the winner receive and retain the right to use the AWC badge proclaiming their accomplishment (in PNG high resolution).
• Other prizes may also be added.
• Prizes are subject to change.

And the winner is... Michael Maloof for his Kate Preacher thriller "Relentless". Congrats to Michael and his finalists Keith Weber (Night Rules) and Kirk Rafferty (Cosmonaut and the Fisherman).

During an exciting convention and award ceremony at the Clive Cussler Collector's Society Convention Adventure Writers Competition finalists Kirk Rafferty, Keith Weber, and Michael Maloof awaited the announcement of the “Grandmaster Winner”. After book trailers were premiered, Best-selling author Dirk Cussler took the stage. “This year any of the finalists could have been chosen the winner,” he said. “Each is deserving of this award. Unfortunately, only one can bring home the Grandmaster Winner’s trophy. This year the award goes to Relentless, by Michael Maloof.”

Jeff Edwards, Publisher with Braveship Books, award-winning author, and inaugural winner of the Adventure Writers Competition reminded the finalists that “making the top ten in this competition is amazing. To make the top three is a stunning achievement. You should each be proud and use this award to propel your career as others have. Good luck to you all.”

“This is the only competition we know of that has a large panel of judges who read every entry,” said Peter Greene, AWC Director. “It is a tough competition, but the quality never ceases to amaze me. We are now beginning our 15th year, and thanks to the generosity of the Cussler Family, the Clive Cussler Collector’s Society, our great judges, and other sponsors of the competition, we hope to continue for many years to come!”

The Adventure Writers Competition accepts action/adventure novels for their yearly competition, which opens for 2025 submissions from January - April 2022.

Sorry for the delay in announcing the semi-finalists! We thank our panel of a dozen judges and our Director of Submissions, 2018 Finalist Eve Simpson! The Adventure Writers Competition is a tough contest to win, and we know how hard it is to write a novel, especially an adventure novel! The task is done, and we congratulate all who entered.
