A British Airways flight attendant has been sentenced after being found naked and under the influence of drugs during a transatlantic flight from San Francisco to London. Haden Pentecost, 41, admitted to performing aviation duties while impaired after locking himself in a lavatory mid-flight. He later emerged naked and incoherent, unable to answer basic questions, leaving the crew to manage the 10-hour flight without his support.

Colleagues said his behavior placed extreme pressure on the captain and crew as they continued the long-haul service. On arrival at Heathrow, Pentecost tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. Judge Hannah Duncan sentenced him to six months, suspended for 12 months, alongside 80 hours of unpaid work and £150 in costs. Once described as a man rebuilding his career after Covid, Pentecost has now lost his position at British Airways.
