As the school year comes to a close, NHSN wanted to do something a little extra special for our final post! For our last day of school celebration post, we decided to take you all behind the scenes (BTS) to show you where the magic really happens.

Throughout the year, you've seen the NHSN videos, the announcements, and all the fun content, but have you ever wondered what goes on in the background? In this special BTS feature, we're giving you an exclusive look at the different rooms and stations we use to bring everything to life. From our filming setups and editing stations to the planning spaces where ideas first come to life, every corner plays a part in creating what you see each week.

We’re so proud of all the hard work that went into making this year's content, and we couldn't have done it without your support. So sit back, enjoy this behind-the-scenes post, and thank you for being part of our journey this school year! Lastly, enjoy this last day of school and enjoy summer even more!

Mr. Burch Needs Your HELP!

Coach Burch, who also teaches at our school, runs a football program every summer during summer school (6th-12th). This program has been an important part of preparing athletes for the upcoming football season and has helped many current and former members of the Nekoosa football team improve their skills, stay in shape, and build strong team bonds.

In order for the program to run this summer, at least 10 students need to be signed up. Unfortunately, as of now, only 4 students have signed up, which means he still needs 6 more people to make it happen.

The deadline to have at least 10 people signed up is THIS FRIDAY, and time is running out!

This class is a great opportunity not just for athletes who want to get better at football, but for anyone who wants to stay active, challenge themselves, and be part of something that supports our school’s athletics. Coach Burch and the students already signed up are really hoping to keep this tradition going, but we need your help to do it. If you sign your kid up, it doesn't mean your student has to show up every day. They could show up once a week, but the important thing is that they are signed up.

If you're interested or have questions, please reach out to Mr. Burch or the school as soon as possible. Let’s make sure this program continues to support Nekoosa football and gives students a chance to train, grow, and have fun this summer!

Let's share this post to get the word around and to help Mr. Burch!

Today is the last day of school for Nekoosa seniors! We would like to congratulate the seniors for all that they have done over the years. They have done a lot for the community, whether that was helping out or dominating in sports. Nekoosa has had one of the best sports years in years due to the seniors. The seniors this year have had a lot of impact on the younger classmen in school and outside of school too. This is a great group of students who will have a great impact on the world in one way or another. In all, we send our best wishes to the graduating class of 2025!

The clock is winding down this school year. There are only a few assignments left; even with that in mind, it is essential that everyone is getting their work in on time. Finish strong so everyone can participate in fall sports and events next year! Again, it is not how you start that matters; it is how you finish that really matters.

What a big win for Nekoosa Softball!!! This win was a team win, and everyone did their part to win this game. From the freshmen to the seniors, everyone did what they had to do to get this win. Nekoosa will travel to Prescott next Tuesday for the regional playoff game. Make sure you can try to be there to support the Papermakers. Congratulations to the team for getting a playoff win!

For , we are going to talk about/review one of the most popular/upcoming board games, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. The entire deck is dealt to the players face-down, with each card showing a picture and a word, usually one of the five items in that game’s title. On a turn, the active player, keeping one hand behind their back, just like all other players at the table, per my house rules, plays the top card of their personal draw pile into the middle of the table while saying a word in sequence: taco/cat/goat/cheese/pizza. (In other words, if the last player played a card while saying “goat,” the active player will play a card and say “cheese.”)

If the played card’s word matches the word on the top card of the discard pile, all players have to place their hand on the entire discard pile, which usually includes a few other hands too. The last player to do that is penalized by taking all the cards in the discard pile. The first player to run out of cards wins the game.

This is a really fun game to play with friends and family. I highly recommend this game to all who love a classic board game.

There are a lot of open gyms this summer for various NHS sports! Not sure if you want to play basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, or such? Check out the athletics calendar on the Nekoosa High School website! If you aren’t sure how to find it or need help, stop in the front office! Separate yourself from the competition, and in that extra time, it will be worth it!

The final concert for the end of the year for all band classes will be Wednesday, May 21st, 2025. There will be an awards ceremony for each class and a senior send-off as well. Different grade-level bands go at different times. The concert is split into two time slots so we can accommodate seating for everyone. 6th Grade and High School Bands will start at 6pm-7pm with a call time of 5:50pm in the high school auditorium. The 7th and 8th grade bands will start at 7:30, with a call time of 7:15 pm. This accommodates a Brewers field trip some students are going on, which comes back at 6pm. If you have any questions, please let me know. Dress is formal attire for AMS. All black for HS. Seniors can wear what they want—formal. Please reach out to me with any questions ( [email protected]). GO BAND!
