Ha Jung Woo, Im Soo Jung, Kim Jun Han, And More Confirmed For New Drama

Ha Jung Woo, Im Soo Jung, Kim Jun Han, Krystal, and Shim Eun Kyung are set to star in the new drama “How to Be a Landlord in South Korea” (literal translation)!

On June 26, tvN’s upcoming drama “How to Be a Landlord in South Korea” confirmed the casting of Ha Jung Woo, Im Soo Jung, Kim Jun Han, Krystal, and Shim Eun Kyung.

“How to Be a Landlord in South Korea” is a thriller drama that follows a struggling landlord who becomes entangled in crime to protect his family and property. While he achieves the coveted status of a landlord, mounting debts lead him to participate in a staged kidnapping. However, the plan spirals out of control as the fake kidnapping turns dangerously real.

Ha Jung Woo plays Ki Soo Jong, the head of a household who puts everything on the line to become a building owner through a loan, only to fall into deep debt. Ha Jung Woo is drawing attention with the announcement of his return to the small screen, marking his first television role in 19 years since the 2007 drama “H.I.T.” He is expected to deliver a powerful and captivating performance as Ki Soo Jong, portraying the character’s fight to protect his building while becoming increasingly trapped in a financial mess.

Im Soo Jung plays Kim Sun, the wife of Ki Soo Jong, a character who experiences a wide range of emotions as she becomes caught up in unfolding events. A longtime favorite with audiences, Im Soo Jung returns to television for the first time since the 2021 drama “Melancholia,” taking on a fresh new role. She is expected to bring a strong presence to the screen by portraying Kim Sun’s resilience and strength in the face of unpredictable and escalating challenges.

Kim Jun Han plays Min Hwal Seong, the close friend of Ki Soo Jong. Min Hwal Seong is a character whose business ventures and investments repeatedly fail, yet he manages to marry well and settle in as a live-in son-in-law. Driven by ambition and a desire for recognition, he becomes involved in unexpected situations. Kim Jun Han has earned praise for his strong performances in a variety of roles, and his portrayal in this series is highly anticipated.

Krystal, who continues to steadily build her acting career, has been cast as Jeon Yi Kyung, the wife of Min Hwal Seong and the daughter of a powerful real estate investor. Jeon Yi Kyung looks up to and relies on Ki Soo Jong and Kim Sun as a couple but soon finds herself drawn into a series of unexpected events. Krystal is expected to leave a lasting impression as she portrays Jeon Yi Kyung’s emotional journey from a sheltered upbringing to facing dramatic personal change.

Shim Eun Kyung plays Yo Na, a representative from Real Capital who puts pressure on Ki Soo Jong. Adopted overseas at a young age, Yo Na adds a sense of mystery and tension to the story. Shim Eun Kyung, known for her hit films “Sunny,” “Masquerade,” and “Miss Granny,” made headlines when she expanded her career to Japan. Her return to Korean television after six years with this project is drawing attention as a bold and anticipated transformation.

The series will be directed by Im Pil Sung, known for his distinctive style in the film “Persona.” Writer Oh Han Ki, who began his career as a novelist, is making his debut as a television screenwriter.

“How to Be a Landlord in South Korea” is set to begin filming in July and is scheduled to air on tvN in the first half of 2026.

Lee Jun Hyuk, Seo Hyun Woo, And Oh Dae Hwan Bring Office Drama To Life At Script Reading For Upcoming Drama

TVING’s upcoming original series “Lotto 1st Place Winner Goes to Work Too” (literal title) has shared a glimpse of its first script reading session!

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Lotto 1st Place Winner Goes to Work Too” tells the story of Gong Eun Tae (Lee Jun Hyuk), an ordinary sales employee who wins the lottery jackpot. Though the prize—1.3 billion won (approximately $950,000)—isn’t quite enough to dramatically change his life, Gong Eun Tae sees it as the ultimate emotional safety net. Rather than quit, he continues to show up to work, determined to face his daily office life with a new mindset.

Lee Jun Hyuk stars as Gong Eun Tae, the hardworking team leader of Sales Team 5 at Hongsung International, who has spent his entire life trying to stay out of trouble and live “normally.” Just when he fears boredom is all he has to show for his years of effort—he wins the lottery. As he begins to reevaluate his life and purpose, viewers will follow his relatable, heartfelt growth.

Lee Jun Hyuk shared, “After reading the script, I spoke with a friend who works in an office. This story is really about how office workers find a way to connect and understand one another. I thought it might offer some comfort to office workers out there. I’m also looking forward to working with Seo Hyun Woo and Oh Dae Hwan—it should be a fun team-up. Please look forward to it!”

Seo Hyun Woo plays Yang Jun Ho, Gong Eun Tae’s problematic teammate and deputy manager of Sales Team 5. After cruising through a golden youth, Jun Ho now faces the harsh reality of a stagnating career. When Gong Eun Tae—who joined the company a year after him—gets promoted first, Jun Ho spirals into resentment and becomes a difficult colleague. But slowly, he learns to confront reality and discovers how to support others rather than resist change.

Seo Hyun Woo commented, “I was drawn to the premise—what if a regular office worker suddenly won the lottery? The story unfolds with a realism and emotional depth that intrigued me. I want to share that same excitement with viewers. I’m also really looking forward to the back-and-forth dynamic with Lee Jun Hyuk and the ensemble cast. Please look forward to it.”

Oh Dae Hwan transforms into Jung Sun Hyuk, the often-overlooked team leader of Sales Team 4. Though he’s lived his life by the book, he repeatedly fails to get promoted and is now forced to reckon with an unforgiving reality. Learning the hard way that relationships and connection can outweigh competence, he makes a bold decision to become an opportunist—for the sake of self-preservation.

Oh Dae Hwan shared, “I’m truly happy to be part of the drama. It’s a pleasure to reunite with a director and team I’ve worked with before. This drama carries a good message. I’ll give it my all to deliver a great drama for viewers.”

“Lotto 1st Place Winner Goes to Work Too” is slated to premiere in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates!

Nam Ji Hyun In Talks To Star In “Good Partner” Season 2

Actress Nam Ji Hyun may be reprising her role in the second season of “Good Partner”!

On June 24, multiple sources from the broadcasting industry stated that Nam Ji Hyun had been in talks for the second season of “Good Partner” but that she ultimately decided not to reprise her role in the series due to scheduling conflicts and other reasons. They also stated that Jang Nara, who starred alongside Nam Ji Hyun in the first season, is positively considering appearing in the second season.

However, on June 25, a source from Nam Ji Hyun’s agency Management SOOP clarified that discussions are still ongoing regarding Nam Ji Hyun’s appearance in “Good Partner” Season 2.

Written by an actual divorce attorney, “Good Partner” depicts the struggles of two very different divorce lawyers: Cha Eun Kyung (Jang Nara), a star lawyer for whom divorce is her calling, and Han Yu Ri (Nam Ji Hyun), a rookie lawyer who is still new to divorce.

The drama aired from July to September last year and received great love for its portrayal of not only the womance between the main characters but also its realistic depiction of divorce cases compared to existing legal dramas. The show started with a nationwide rating of 7.8 percent and went on to achieve a peak average nationwide viewership rating of 17.7 percent.

Nam Ji Hyun delivered a passionate performance as rookie lawyer Han Yu Ri, with her chemistry with Jang Nara contributing to the drama’s popularity. She won the Top Excellence Award at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards for her performance in “Good Partner,” while lead actress Jang Nara won the Daesang (Grand Prize) for the first time in her 23-year career at the same award show for her performance in “Good Partner.” Following the drama’s popularity, “Good Partner” was confirmed for a second season earlier in April this year.

Nam Ji Hyun is currently set to appear in the KBS drama “My Beloved Thief” (literal title) alongside Moon Sang Min. “My Beloved Thief” tells the story of a woman who unexpectedly becomes a bandit and a royal prince of Joseon who switches souls with her while pursuing her. The drama is currently filming and is scheduled to air next year.

Lee Byung Hun In Talks To Star In “The Glory” Director’s Korean Remake Of "The Americans"

Lee Byung Hun may be making his return to the spy genre in an upcoming Korean remake of “The Americans”!

On June 24, ize reported that Lee Byung Hun is currently in the final stages of discussions to star in “Koreans” (working title).

In response, his agency BH Entertainment shared, “Nothing has been finalized yet. It’s true that he received the offer and is positively reviewing it.”
