Happy Mother's Day to the woman who carried me in her belly for 9 months and gave me life. Thank you for loving me with all your heart and setting such a high bar how to be a mother to my own kids. No love can compare to a mother's love, and I'm so grateful every day I still have you in my life.

To the world, I'm a grown woman in her 30s, married, with two kids, and a whole lot of responsibilities... but to you, I'm still a kid; I'm still your precious little baby. And it feels so good to know how young I'll always be in your eyes and cherish I am by you. Now that I am a mother myself, I can finally understand all your hard work, sacrifice, and unconditional love.

Meet Kalon Xamuyees Loktin Kan, the newest addition to our family! Born two and a bit weeks early on April 10th, Kalon was in a hurry to enter the world, and daddy almost missed his delivery!

This little bundle of joy has stolen our hearts with his big bright eyes, calm nature, and adorable gentle cries. We are so grateful to God for this miracle child and for the blessing of being his parents.

The name Kalon (KA-LUHN, rhymes with gallon), means to embody the ideal of perfect beauty - physical, moral, and spiritual. It is our hope for him to grow up and flourish, and to see the beauty of his soul, heart, and mind shine through.

April 25th would have been my due date but my baby had other plans and decided to come over two weeks early.

Paul was away on a work trip and I woke up to intense contractions in the middle of the night. It was a wild ride getting to the hospital and I thought I was going to give birth in the car when we were blocked by a train in the middle of morning rush hour. All I remember was being so incredibly thirsty. It was probably a great distraction, so I didn't have space to worry about Kairos.

Kairos woke up just as I was getting ready to leave the house and was dropped off confused and crying at my mom's house in the chaos of getting me to the hospital. I barely had time to bid him goodbye because the surges were so strong and close together. I hadn't finished nesting and there were no hospital bags or diaper bags packed. By the time my older brother got me admitted to triage, I was already 8cm dilated and 90% effaced. I brought nothing with me but the clothes on my back and my purse.

Paul was rushing back from Chicago but was still 2.5 hrs away. Luckily, my doula met me in triage and was in communication with Paul and I the whole time. I was so happy to see a familiar face when she arrived and broke down a bit before being swiftly wheeled off to labor and delivery.

Baby decided to wait for daddy and I was so relieved when Paul finally arrived, panting into the room completely disheveled. He told me later he had been driving over 100mph on the freeway, almost ran out of gas, and was sprinting through the hospital hallways. My water broke 10mins after Paul arrived and Baby was born within the hour!

Total labor was 6 hours compared to 41 hours with my firstborn. With my first, I was super calm and dialed in. This time, I wasn't able to find a good mental rhythm because of the hectic pace, emotions, and panics of that morning. Luckily, my surges only lasted 1min unlike the unbearable 2-3mins of my first labor. It was nothing like I expected and I'm so thankful I had so much support from my family. God had his hands all over us and everything worked out because of his provisions and timing.

Happy 2nd Birthday to my little ray of sunshine, Kairos! Words can't express the overwhelming love and joy you've brought into our lives since the day you were born. As we celebrate your second trip around the sun, my heart is bursting with pride and gratitude for the privilege of being your mom.

From your very first breath, you captivated us with your fiery spirit and boundless curiosity. Watching you grow and learn has been the greatest adventure of our lives. Your laughter fills our home with warmth, and your hugs are like magic, melting away any worries or fears.

As we eagerly await the arrival of your baby brother this month, I'm filled with a mix of emotions. But amidst the excitement and anticipation, one thing remains constant: my unconditional love for you. You'll always hold a special place in my heart as my firstborn, my little love, a reminder of my greatest blessing: the opportunity to be a mother.

In the midst of life's chaos, you are my anchor, grounding me with your innocence and purity. Your presence brings meaning to each moment, reminding me of life's simple joys and the beauty of unconditional love.

This month, we celebrate you, my sweet boy, and all the wonder and magic you bring into our lives. Here's to another year of snuggles, giggles, and precious memories.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the light of my life: My now 2 years old son, Kairos!

Every day, I am so grateful that God made you mine. That out of all the billions of souls, God chose you for me. You're the most joyful and silly little guy ever and make mommy and daddy so happy every day with your shenanigans. You have brought so much purpose into my life, and being your mom is one of my life's greatest gifts.

Keep growing up healthy, happy, kind, strong, and smart like you already are. Mommy loves you with my whole entire heart ❤️
