A time was had at The Bell’s Listening Party & Fundraiser and it was unforgettable. 💜

We came together to celebrate the powerful work of our student reporters from P.S. Weekly and Miseducation, and the inspiring student leaders (SJAG) with our . Their voices, their stories, their presence lit up the entire room. 🎙️✨

We laughed, we cried, and we reflected on why the critical work of building the next generation of journalists is needed now more than ever.

BIG NEWS! 🥳 The Bell is expanding. We’re thrilled to announce the public launch of the Jackson Youth Newsroom (JYN)—our new initiative empowering high school students in Jackson, Mississippi to become local journalists.

For too long, youth voices have been missing from local news in Jackson. JYN is changing that. We’re here to tell stories rooted in pride for our city, share new perspectives on old problems, bridge generations, and build a stronger future for Jackson.

Weekly student reporters, Marcellino, Salma, and Bernie (left to right), had an amazing opportunity to present on a panel at SXSW EDU this week! ☀️🎙️ Among them, Bernie is currently in the program, while Salma and Marcellino are alumni from Season 1! We’re gearing up for Season 2 with an incredible cohort of 10 new and returning reporters and can’t wait to introduce them to you! Earlier this month, our very own Fredlove Deshommes moderated a Black History Month town hall with Reverend Al Sharpton and student journalists. Fredlove asked thought-provoking questions about the moment we are living in, and Reverend Al was dropping gems!
