Passaic Valley Water Commission PVWC.com fails to maintain 140 year old water main system.

Water Main Break – Paterson 🚨

PVWC crews are isolating a 42-inch main break at North 1st & Arch Streets.

⚠️ A large part of the Riverside section may experience little or no water.

⏳ No repair timeframe yet.

This break is separate from the Hinchliffe Stadium repair.

💧 Boil Water Advisory remains in effect for:

• Parts of Paterson outside the lifted area

• Prospect Park

• Haledon & North Haledon (MUA customers)

➡️ Customers under the advisory must boil water for 1 minute before use (drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, making ice) or use bottled water until further notice.

Passaic Valley Water Commission Issues Boil Water Advisory for City of Paterson
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Paterson, N.J. – August 8, 2025) – Due to a 30-inch water main break near Hinchcliffe Stadium, Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) has issued a boil water advisory for residents and businesses in the entire City of Paterson.
This advisory is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.
Immediate Actions Required:
• Boil Water Before Use: All water for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and washing dishes should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute. Allow the water to cool before using.
• Alternative Water Sources: Please use bottled water if boiling is not possible (PVWC is working on setting up a water distribution site).
Reason for Advisory:
The advisory is a precautionary measure to ensure the health and safety of our community, our top priority.
Ongoing Efforts:
PVWC crews are actively working to address the issue and restore normal water service. We are conducting thorough testing and will provide updates as they become available.

The Day we lost our cat - A Narrative by:Faith Haines
On April 1st in yard at Mountain view prison AKA William H Fauver Youth Correctional Facility in NJ this stray grey cute, friendly, adorable male cat comes up to me and lays on my lap and I pet him. Then I go in and day after day, night after night sun or rain I'm out in yard with this cat I named Tom. Other incarcerated women here named him also like: Shadow, Neenuch, Handsome, Prince, ect. In cold and hot weather I go outside to spend time with him. He likes the Sunday chicken and sausage links they serve in the morning. Plus me and other people would get Tuna Salmon and Mackerel from commissary to feed him. He was fed and provided water every day, afternoon, and night by us. Tom was loved and he even allowed me to pick him up by his scruff and hold, pet, and kiss him on his head telling him I love you at least 3 times a day. He would be outside the door of building 1 waiting for me and other women to come out. When I would call him he would come running to me. Both animals and babies have a sense of good and bad people. So this was everyday and night from April 1st to June 26th.
On the night of June 26th a Sgt. Barsony who wants incarcerated women to be miserable and not happy Sgt. Barsony planned and talked this Nurse Christine (who works at this prison and could easily go to the ASPCA and adobt a cat since she is a state worker who has freedom to go anywhere she pleases) into taking Tom,Shadow, Neenuch, Prince, ect. home with her so the cat wouldn't be here any longer and also it would make us miserable. Nurse Christine still hasn't named Tom. She told me she calls him here kitty kitty. Why take a cat that has developed close relationships with incarcerated women who he serves as a comfort to and is like a emotional comfort cat? Not just to me who is diagnosed with Complex PTSD as I've been incarcerated for going on 22 years now, but to other incarcerated persons as well? Why be that cruel? Not many people including me go to yard anymore since Tom has been gone.
I would call him and he would come running to me every time when our yard was called out. We shared a bond and he also had bonds with others as well. Incarcerated persons are not defined by the crime we did. We are capable of showing love and caring for other people and also animals. This cat was our pet and a rogue Sgt. Barsony made a decision to let Tom, Shadow, Neenuch, Handsome,Prince, ect. be stolen from us. I still cry to this day missing my good friend and I don't even go to yard, but slipped into a depression. He even has a family here he was taken from a female cat and 2 kittens that are a little over a month old. No one here is willing to help in this situation, so I write this to all who are willing to listen and maybe even help. Thank you for listening. I believe Nurse Christine should return Tom, Prince,Handsome, Neenuch, Shadow ect, our cat back here to us women in Mountainview William H Fauver Youth Correctional Facility cause we really miss, love, and took good care of him.
