Hello everyone!
We'd love to digitally preserve Sailor Moon S: Answer the Moon Call on VHS in the highest quality possible for fans. To do that, we’d need to have it professionally captured using the Domesday Duplicator method.
What is Domesday?
The Domesday Duplicator is an open-source hardware device designed to preserve analog media like LaserDiscs and VHS tapes. It captures the raw RF signal directly from the player, bypassing its internal processing. This method allows for significantly higher-quality backups than traditional video capture, avoiding the usual degradation.
Unfortunately, the equipment we have on hand isn’t capable of this level of quality, so we’ll need to outsource the capture. This process isn’t cheap, so we're reaching out to see if anyone would be willing to contribute.
You're welcome to donate as much as you'd like. Those who donate a minimum of $10 dollars will receive the lossless video and audio files as a thank-you for their support.
For fans who aren't able to donate — don’t worry! We’ll still release the usual high-quality fansub in our standard format (375MB x264 MKV file), so everyone can enjoy it.
If this project goes well, we’d love to expand to other rare releases, such as the Hero Club tapes, the edited Pioneer VHS tapes, LaserDiscs, and more. All donors will continue to be prioritized and receive the highest-quality archival files available.
