Time for another 'Dirty 30' Playlist and this time around it's a Doom one. Here you have slow doom (obviously) fast doom, jolly, jaunty doom and nasty black doom. Some of these bands fell to dust many years ago but others are very much alive. It's in two parts. A grubby little radio show playing nasty heavy metal music

My reflections on the new album 'Entropia' by Heidrún

Heidrún is a Mexican band whose newly released album 'Entropia' blends gritty, arid desert / stoner rock with an almost metalized crunch. The sound has more depth than their earlier 2021 EP aided by obligatory fuzz but not too much as to suffocate the infectious grooves and I particularly love those spicy lead guitar breaks that are prevalant throughout this album, spiteful one minute, drifting on a bed of wah the next.

Bands tagged with 'desert' and 'psychedelic' aren't supposed to be as ferocious as this but Heidrún has torn up the rule book with Entropia, harnessing a scorching thrill a minute stoner ride that'll leave you feeling dehydrated and desperate for more.

Imagination holds no bounds when you listen to an Anointing The Sick Metal Blog show and its a particularly sick one this week, opening with a track off the incoming sludge monster 'Astralis' by Azell. There's lots of doom, death and general carnage and the filth pit has been very bountiful this week. There are tracks from new albums that have been a highlight for me over the last couple of weeks from Treasondom, Supernaughty, Malthusian, God's Funeral, Heidrun, Molosser Crude and Sars. The show closes with a doom monster from the often surprisingly melodic Pallbearer.

Sermons of Filth and Disgust is far from being a modern sounding album, instead it harkens back to one of my favourite era's of sludge where bands such as Sourvein ruled the roost.
