Developing Educators Academy Helping you to pivot your career into teaching what you know and love This wasn’t always the case or how it started. BUT, nobody had heard of me!

"Stop putting baby in the corner, it's time to step into the light and showcase your genius and build up your online credibility"

I’m Ayo Bamgbose the creator and founder of Social Media Design School and the host of Social Media Launchers community, focused on helping start-ups understand how to use social media to build, grow and monetize their online business presence. I mentor and teach on ho

w to create content clients crave and the skills and mindset needed to build that know-like-trust factor. WHEN I TOOK BACK CONTROL:
In 2015, I was ready to follow my purpose and start my own business as a training and business start-up strategist helping beauty companies to add e-learning into their training departments. Yes, I had a Masters in International Spa management and trained beauty and spa specialist in the UK, Europe and the Asia for 4 years but that was for companies who paid me moolah to do it. Who was I to try to set-up my own online business and market to small businesses about why they must hire me to teach them how to use online platforms to sell their products. Damn, my confidence had hit an all-time low. I started hearing all those
“No you can’t do it” “No one will take you seriously” voices. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER:
So I knew I had to equip myself with the knowledge and know-how of learning everything about tech and digital marketing. Course after course and training after training I dedicated 6 months learning website coding, social media marketing and advance design skills. I knew the fastest way for me to build credibility and gain my confidence was to reach out to people wanting to start-up their own businesses. After 6-9 months of mentoring clients to jump start their business online and creating their websites I noticed many of them didn’t get any further with their business. It occurred to me the reason was because they knew nothing about the next steps on how to use online tools, tech or market themselves. MY AHA MOMENT:
That’s when I realized I had been so selfish by keeping all my knowledge and talents to myself. They needed me to help translate the online language and teach them how to use social media for their business. In 2016 I knew it was time to change tack and help breakdown how to use social media and all the techy stuff that came with it to create platforms for people to grow their businesses and showcase their genius. "The digital world is not scary, let me show you"

They say it takes on average around 66 days to build a habit.
But what about 90?

I started going back to the gym on 20 July. At first, no one really noticed. It was just me showing up, one session at a time. Some days were great, others were a battle, but I kept showing up anyway.
Then this Sunday, my mum looked at me and said, “Oh my goodness, I can see the difference. Well done on the hard work!”
That was day 92.

It made me think. Results often arrive long after the effort begins. The same goes for business, studying, or any goal that demands growth. You don’t always see the progress straight away, but consistency keeps building quietly behind the scenes.

This journey has taught me the value of showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable. The real transformation happens long before anyone else sees it. It’s shaped by discipline, commitment, and small choices made in private.
If you’ve been showing up and wondering if it’s worth it, keep going.

Day 30 is about trust.
Day 60 is about belief.
Day 90 is when others start to notice, but by then, you already know how far you’ve come.

Did you know 90 days from today is 21 January 2026?
Imagine what could change by then if you simply kept showing up.

This is one of the things I love most about teaching qualifications.
You’re not just learning in theory.
You’re applying it in real-time, with your team, your clients, your students.

You see the shifts as they happen.
And it starts to shape the way you teach, support and lead others.
This is exactly what happens inside our Education and Training qualifications.
You are not simply ticking boxes... You are becoming the kind of educator you once needed.

Supportive. Knowledgeable. Purpose-led.

Does anyone else love small projects?

I’ve realised something about myself over the years. I get a real buzz from projects that have a clear start and end date. It’s not that I don’t enjoy longer ones, but something is motivating about knowing the timeframe and ticking it off when it’s complete.

This summer, I gave myself a big challenge. I went back and studied for my Level 2 Functional Skills Maths, which is equivalent to the GCSE. For context, I didn’t pass my GCSE Maths in school, so I finally tackled it almost 30 years later. The course ran over four weeks, then with a resit it stretched to seven weeks. It was intense, but so worth it.

At the same time, I’ve also been finishing my Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. That one was a longer journey, starting in September 2024 and completed by July 2025. It was a different type of commitment, but it still carried the same sense of achievement once it was completed.

That’s what I love about projects. When you know the effort, the learning hours, the commitment, and the end date, it feels achievable, even when it’s tough.

Of course, my PhD is the exception. That one is definitely not a mini project.

But I’m curious… do you prefer short projects with clear timelines, or do you thrive more on the long-term ones?

If you’ve ever coached someone through a treatment, observed their work, or signed off their progress…

You’ve already been doing parts of the assessor role.
The only difference now?
I’m qualified.
And I get paid for it.

Whether you’re working in a salon, spa, clinic or training centre, the CIBTAC Assessor qualification gives you the recognition and confidence to assess learners professionally.

It’s ideal for therapists and Managers who want to step into education without leaving the treatment room completely.

I don’t need to keep up. I just need to keep going.
There’s a quiet kind of peace that comes from staying in your own lane.
Not watching what everyone else is doing.
Not comparing launch timelines or follower counts.
Not questioning your progress just because someone else is moving differently.

I’ve learnt that staying out of other people’s business, mentally, emotionally, and digitally, is a form of self-respect.
It gives you room to focus. To grow. To listen to what you actually want, not what looks shiny on someone else’s feed.

So no, I might not be trending.
I might not be doing what’s “hot” right now.
But I’m doing what’s mine. And that’s enough.

I’ve got something personal to share.

Earlier this year, I made the decision to face something I had avoided for a very long time: maths.

I never got my GCSE Maths. At the time, I didn’t know I was dyslexic. I just knew that no matter how hard I tried, it never seemed to click.

Teachers told me I wasn’t trying hard enough. That I wasn’t focused. I needed to stay behind after class.

The truth was different. What I needed was understanding and support.

Over the years, I worked around it. I built a career I love, gained qualifications, taught internationally, and supported hundreds of learners. Still, every so often, when applying for certain teaching levels or industry qualifications, maths quietly reappeared.

So this year, I added it to my list. Alongside completing my Level 5 Diploma, I enrolled on a Functional Skills Maths course. Four weeks of intense focus, followed by an exam.

I didn’t pass the first time, scoring 30 out of 64. For someone who hadn’t done maths since 1996, I was proud of that effort.

I chose to keep going. After a three-week resit course in August and September, I sat the exam again. This time, I passed. 🎉

Not because I needed to prove anything. Because it was time to do it for me.

If you’ve been avoiding going back to study, whether it’s maths, English, science, or another subject that once left you feeling small, I want you to know this…

It is never too late.
You can return at any age.
You can learn in a way that works for you.
And you can succeed on your own terms.

One of my biggest lessons this year?

It’s okay to choose softness. To choose spaces that refill you, not just stretch you.
I loved having August off from my PhD.

Stepping away gave me time to reset, reflect, and breathe.
Now I feel ready for year two.

And I’m learning that progress doesn’t always look like pushing through.
Sometimes it looks like pausing.
Sometimes it looks like silence.
Sometimes it looks like choosing rest before exhaustion makes the choice for you.

This spa moment wasn’t just a treat. It was a reset.

A quiet promise to myself to stop normalising overwhelm.
A reminder that behind the deadlines, the digital tools, the schedules, and the systems, I’m still someone who needs time to be,not just do.

This year has reminded me that rest is not the opposite of growth.
It is part of it.

Here’s to more moments that ground us.
Especially when the world asks us to keep moving.

25/09/2025

When you’ve spent years building your skills, you don’t just walk away from that.

You build on it.
You teach it.
You pass it on.

There’s a quiet shift that happens when your hands know the treatment…
but your heart wants something more.

Maybe it’s time to move from doing to developing.
From treatments to teaching.
From feeling stuck to feeling proud of what you’re passing on.

You don’t need to start over.
You just need the right step forward.
And we’re here to help you take it.

23/09/2025

Your next role could be teaching.
If you've ever trained a junior therapist, helped someone prep for an assessment, or guided a client through treatments with ease, you're already using the core skills of an educator.

The CIBTAC Level 3 Award in Education and Training is the perfect first step if you're thinking about making the shift into teaching, training, or assessing.

You don’t need classroom experience to begin. Just your passion, your industry knowledge, and a desire to support others as they grow.
