Dandadan, in its own jarring way, highlights the way puberty is a violent experience. The show doesn’t shy away from showing this violence, both to its credit and detriment. Dandadan calls out the way society views and attacks teenagers in real life as they are going through one of the roughest transformations our bodies can go through.

Kae discusses the many horrors of puberty and how the show pulls no punches in sharing those fears. They also share the power of friendship and community during an incredibly isolating and lonely time of young lives.

Anime is ripe with problematic fan service that can turn off potential fans. However, while Dandadan often strips down our heroes to their underwear, sometimes soaking wet and clamboring over each other, these moments represent more than an inside joke, it's a critique of that very culture and its commentary on our growing bodies.

gabe discusses the differences between contributing to fan service and creating social commentary on that very issue. They also highlight the unlikely hero for a shonen anime with Momo at the helm and unpacks the lore behind the many yokai in the show.
