It's time to 'Make Space' at Platt Hall. These are free art and craft classes with a different theme each time.

It's such a lovely way to spend a cold Tuesday and really helps with work-from-home cabin fever.

It runs on the first Tuesday of each month, 1 to 4 pm. You can drop in whenever you like and stay for as long as you want.

The Hall is stocked with all sorts of creative bits, from paints and pencils to sewing machines, embroidery hoops, and knitting gear. You can join in with the themed activity, or crack on with your own project.

It's very relaxed, and you always end up chatting to someone interesting or picking up a new skill.

I made stars for the window and a highly festive PARSNIP SUPERNOVA.

KILL ME NOW, IT'S HAPPY HARDCORE – thought Vicky Video, the house music snob.

We were hanging out at YES Bar Manchester when we poked our head into the basement and heard insanely fast music. Turns out it was happy hardcore. Turns out it was actually tolerable. Turns out it’s F*CKING FANTASTIC.

Three hours later, Vicky Video is a complete convert. Stupid amounts of fun, and the most exuberant crowd of all time.

It's a race against the clock, and the turning Earth.

Can we make it to the top of Manchester’s Festive Wheel before sunset?

What does Father Zipmas think of all this?

And does the boyfriend really get down on one knee? (spoiler YES he does!)

We raced across the city, against the clock, trying to get the sunset shot from the top of the wheel.

On the way we encountered some Manchester favourites, like Boombox Barry, and Father Zipmas.

We’re delighted that the Christmas Market is back in gloriously gothic Albert Square, it really does seem like its spiritual home.

And the Christmas Markets are cold. We get walnut bladder. We need to know there are toilets nearby - thankfully it’s a big yes.

Calling all friends of Fallowfield and history sleuths.

I look out of my window here at Thorne House and I can see a splendid old dividing wall that was apparently part of a walled garden.

Across the way is the very stylish Appleby Lodge, the art deco masterpiece.

Now, on my wall I have a 1907 Ordnance Survey map and it says Thorne House used to be called Oldenburg House.

Appleby Lodge is on the map too, even though the building we know today went up in the 30s.

So what was here before? What were the original dwellings on this site? Which house did the wall belong to?

I cannot find much online at all, so if anyone can help with this Manchester history mystery, please comment or point me in the right direction for where to research it.

I'd love to know what was here before, and even better, see a picture of Oldenburg House.
