THE SPIRIT OF JOSEPH
__________________
It seems in this season the body of Christ is currently in that there are offenses everywhere. The anger level in many churches is off the chart. Political divides have caused great divisions. Doctrinal issues have bred hatred of one denomination against another.
This should never be the case. We are all unique, and in spite of having some differences, we are one body of Christ if we are born again.
Matthew 18:6 says, “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” This is our Lord speaking, and his view on offense.
If anyone in the bible had a good reason to be offended, it was Joseph. His brothers hated him. He was sold into slavery and taken from his family. He was lied upon by his new master’s wife. He was put into prison. He helped others that forgot him. Yet, when he was elevated to second in authority under Pharaoh and saw his brothers he did not resort to getting even. He had a different spirit.
In Genesis 45:5 he said this to his brothers, “Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.”
He had forgiven them, and we need to forgive all others just the same. We must be without spot or blemish before the Lord. There is no room for any offense in our lives. If someone hurts you, forgive them immediately, and then let it go. Always stay in a place of reconciliation. Let the love of God carry you through those times, and others will see it and be drawn to that love. They will see that you have a different spirit too.
