Our installer swears it doesn't look like this when they leave at the end of the day. 🫠1st time, he agreed it wasnt right, believed someone walked on it, but came back out and pulled it up to redo it. 2nd time, it's even worse (pics) he is totally perplexed, agrees it's horrible, suspects its the humidity affecting the thinset, and agrees to fix it. I want to give the benefit of the doubt, but can't help but believe it's just terrible workmanship and cut our losses. Seriously, what's happening here; is there any good reason why this could be happening other than bad work??Addl Details/ Clarification: The orange membrane in the wall was bc we wanted to run the heating element 1/3rd up the wall, eg the shower is on the outside ext corner of the house and didn't want an icy walls and cold seat. The installer said that the membrane must run all the way up for consistency under the tile. Subfloor: The shower pan is a Schluter kit. Outside the shower is the decup membrane w thinset directly on the half-inch ply subfloor. Just the hallway and WC got a ridgid underlayment/ backer added. Also, wasnt the cheapest bid. There were multiple things that concerned me, along the way; but in my defense, I deferred to trusting the "professional", knowing there are many ways to do things. And trying to avoid being the hovering homeowner, "I could do it if I had time" cliché. I am not trying put this guy on blast here, just wanted to make sure I really wasn't missing something. I believe dude is honest and really trying, but I'm also out of patience. I appreciate everyone's constructive feedback. We are in Johnson Co. KS if anyone has any referral/ recommendations.
